Looks like Don Sylvester has hooked an old WP Corporate user.

Corel Corporation, global developer and marketer of business productivity applications and graphics software, announced today that Told og Skat has purchased Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 as its new software package. The 5,000 seat agreement will upgrade all computers, most of which are currently running WordPerfect 6.1 from Novell.

"We have used WordPerfect for many years, but we were a little unsure of WordPerfect's future when Corel bought the product" says Ole Helsted, office manager for Told og Skat's computer department.
You can clearly see that Corel is dedicated to WordPerfect and the
new Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 has many functions that we are
interested in, for example that it can convert a text file to HTML and
this will help us with our intranet strategy."

It's good to see that at least some people on this thread remain optimistic about Corel's future.

I have no doubt that Corel will survive and do significantly better than the current levels, either on its own or with the help from a bigger player.

Keep it up, A.Hays.

~~~OFF TOPIC ah~~~
The "No Humor" thread works pretty well for posting news, as long as we keep most discussions off of it. Mostly a link on this thread is enough to get the word out to the regulars here.
You also might care to lurk on Vanni's LVB thread. Vanni is mysteriously vanished, but the thread he started has been quite useful, even if only for things like this:
ah
You are correct. There are some discrepancies in the numbers. Corel repurchased 1.3MM shares and paid $5.4MM. This = $4.15 per share!
A quick glance at the chart over Oct/Nov says this is not likely. If this was US$ they are now in worse trouble than before and snakebit as investors. Most likely they were talking Canadian, or mixing their currencies.
Maybe you can figure out what they did. Else a call to IR might be in order.
AH quoted "Corel says it did so because it believes the stock was and is, undervalued. A Corel spokesperson said the buyback was the best use of the company's cash."
This indicated very clearly that if management would take operating cash and reduce the outstanding shares then two things can be summized.
1) They do not plan on needing the cash to cover losses, new Capital appropriation or Buyouts. We can assume that they plan with great confidence to not become cashflow negative.
2) They firmly beleive that not only is the stock undervalued but a great potential of increase. Increase based on pending news or financial results. I would guess financial results.
Maybe Cowpland predicted a loss of some 20m for 4Qtr knowing the stock price would drop and stay low for a period with the plan to repurchase shares at the new low price. If the results are not as bad as expected and up she goes.
Could Corel resell this stock that was just repurchased at the new higher price?
