Before the ACA, the costs of paying for an individual policy were prohibitive. With the subsidies, they are now cheaper.

Except................except...............except.............their employer used to pay for their healthcare, and now they will have to pay for it.

Why can't you braindead liberals see that this is an absolutely horrendous outcome for working people?

I think you might finally understand it around the 2nd week of November.

Before the ACA, the costs of paying for an individual policy were prohibitive.
For most people policies are more expensive now and their deductibles are higher. Not even counting a sicker economy now, it seems they'll have less of a chance to start a business now than before. And if they didn't care to start a business before, why would they want to now, even if they could? Why do you liberals assume the people laid off in this recession/depression want to start a business? They don't. They want a job, like they had before obamacare.

Most people don't want to take the risk of starting a business. They want jobs. Obamacare is wiping out jobs and reducing hours worked. Then when they are forced to take 2 low paying jobs to get similar or less money by working more hours, they are counted as 2 people having one job each, not 1 person holding 2 inferior jobs.

The policies you've wanted and gotten are killing the economy. All the while we are losing our freedoms right and left. Still you socialists keep on pushing. You destroy every economy you set up shop in. It may take decades or even a hundred years, but you always get it done. You guys are destroyers and I know you don't believe it. You wouldn't intentionally destroy an economy that your family and friends depend on.

What's astonishing is even with all the evidence of your destructive policies and all the damage done, you continue to believe in them. How? How can you do it? How can you continue to believe, after one failure after another?

Do you know what the Marxists and Communists do after they win? They don't come after me first, first they come after guys like you. The ones who helped them get into power. Why? Because they know that they can't keep the promises made to you guys. You're the useful idiots that they talk about. They know you'll be pissed and they need to get you out of the way first. They already know I'm pissed. But you'll be the newly pissed and betrayed. They need to get rid of you quickly. And they will. They have throughout history. But you never learn. You keep lining up at the wall, and they keep mowing you down. Amazing.

and the deductibles are 5 times higher. Obamacare won't pay for a thing because people will die before they can pay in enough of the deductibles to even get to the insurance money

Will you answer this question, pimpmeister? We did all of this baloney for 30 million uninsured. WHY?

Do you know what the CBO says?

CBO: Obamacare Will Leave 30 Million Uninsured

CNSNews.com) -- A new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report says that under the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, 30 million non-elderly Americans will remain without health insurance in 2022.

One of the main arguments the Obama administration made for passing the Affordable Care Act was that it would provide coverage for the uninsured.

Currently, accoriding to CBO, there are 53 million uninsured persons in the United States, including uninsured illegal aliens. The CBO estimates that in 2022--8 years after the Affordable Care Act has been fully implemented--30 million people will remain uninsured.

Under Obamacare, 8 percent of legal U.S. residents will remain without health insurance in 2022, according to CBO.

The report was done to assess the fiscal impact of the Supreme Court June Obamacare decision.

“CBO and JCT [Joint Committee on Taxation] now estimate that the ACA, in comparison with prior law before the enactment of the ACA, will reduce the number of nonelderly people without health insurance coverage by 14 million in 2014 and by 29 million or 30 million in the latter part of the coming decade, leaving 30 million nonelderly residents uninsured by the end of the period,” the report said.

“Before the Supreme Court’s decision, the latter number had been 27 million,” states the report.

As a result of the Supreme Court decision, states are no longer obligated under Obamacare to expand eligibility for their Medicaid programs.

“Some states will probably forgo the expansion entirely; some are likely to expand coverage to everyone whose income is below 138 percent of the FPL [f ederal poverty level]; and if the flexibility is allowed, some states may choose partial expansions. Further, states may be able to make those choices in any year after 2014,” the report said.

“The updated estimates by CBO and JCT represent their assessment of the middle of the distribution of the many possible outcomes arising from the Supreme Court’s decision,” states the CBO report.

On the same day the Supreme Court issued its ruling, President Barack Obama delivered a speech in which he said 30 million Americans presently without health coverage will now have the opportunity to obtain affordable health plans.

“If you’re one of the 30 million Americans who don’t yet have health insurance, starting in 2014, this law will offer you an array of quality, affordable, private health insurance plans to choose from,” said Obama.

However, as the CBO concludes, despite all the new government regulations and bureaucracies, taxes and subsidies created by Obamacare, there will still be 30 million uninsured people in the United States a decade from now.

New Cover Oregon allegations: 'If it's true, someone's going to prison'

By Dusty Lane, KATU.com;
Chelsea Kopta, KATU News
Feb 3, 2014
katu.com

PORTLAND, Ore. – You already know the process that led to the failed rollout of the Cover Oregon website was bad.

But was it criminally bad?

Former Republican state Rep. Patrick Sheehan told the KATU Investigators he has gone to the FBI with allegations that Cover Oregon project managers initiated the design of dummy web pages to convince the federal government the project was further along than it actually was.

If Sheehan’s allegations are true, those managers could face time in jail for fraud.

"One of the allegations that was made was so alarming that it went way beyond a legislative oversight committee and so I did reach out and contact the FBI,” Sheehan said.

"The issue had to do with federal funding and proving some amount of compliance with the federal regulation in order to get funding."

To which funding is he referring?

Early in its life, Cover Oregon was given a $48 million “early innovator” grant from the federal government. That amount would later grow to $59 million.

There were a few strings attached though.

To keep the money flowing, the website would have to hit specific benchmarks between 2011 and 2013. The state needed to show the feds it had picked a company to provide software and technical assistance; it had to demonstrate that the website was safe from hackers; and, most importantly, it had to show that people could actually sign up for insurance on the website.

The evidence these marks had been reached would be presented during a process called “gate reviews.”

An IT pro from California named Carolyn Lawson, who has since stepped down, was brought in to oversee the project in her role as Oregon Health Authority CIO.

Her team was in charge of presenting the gate reviews.

Time to get technical

Early in the process, Lawson decided Cover Oregon would take an unconventional approach to designing its website.

Most states were using something called a “waterfall” approach to building their portals. Picture it as a car assembly line: First you build the frame, then you add the wheels, then you add the engine and so on.

Lawson, however, chose to use an “iterative” approach. This time, imagine an extremely blurry picture of a whole car. With each iteration, the picture grows a little more clear.

What that meant for the Cover Oregon website was that it was able to paint a picture of a flashy website – imagine a concept car that looks flashy in the showroom but doesn’t actually run.

But documents uncovered by the KATU Investigators show Lawson hadn’t actually figured out how to build the site, even as she was promising the federal government – and her bosses – that Cover Oregon’s website was going to work.

READ: A high-level IT expert assesses Cover Oregon's approach - "They didn't know what they were doing."

So what, exactly, were the federal and state reviewers being shown?

In a Sept. 27, 2012 email to Bruce Goldberg – Lawson’s boss at the Oregon Health Authority, who is now in charge of Cover Oregon – she sent a link to something called “The Solution Factory,” a site hosted by software contractor Oracle.

Lawson wrote in the email that the link went to a site hosting the same demonstrations the team provided to project stakeholders.

“It demonstrates what we have built to date,” she wrote. “By watching this every month, you can see our progress in real time.”

That link is no longer operational.

KATU traveled to California late last month and knocked on Lawson's door in an effort to get a comment for this story.

Her husband answered and said she didn't want to answer questions.

‘I had to go talk to the FBI’

Sheehan, who spent two years on the state legislature’s joint IT oversight committee, said somebody approached him in December with a disturbing allegation.

“It was communicated to me that something - one of these gate reviews having to do with a benchmark for federal funding - that the State of Oregon was not being truthful,” Sheehan said.

“That was the allegation that was made and that was serious enough that I had to go to talk to the FBI."

Sheehan said he took his concerns to the FBI in December, and that he’s talked to investigators several times since.

The FBI would neither confirm nor deny an investigation into Cover Oregon.

Meanwhile, multiple reports by state and independent IT experts were finding there had been problems with the Cover Oregon website’s design and planning from the beginning.

Despite the fact the website still doesn’t work today, the KATU Investigators found evidence Lawson – or members of her staff – reported to the federal government that the project was going well.

In January 2012, for instance, Lawson wrote a project update for the legislator’s Ways & Means Committee.

She wrote that staff from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) had reviewed the design in its entirety on Nov. 16 and 17. She said they were “delighted” with the technical application and level of quality.

“They gave Oregon very high marks, say our design was among the best they had seen,” she wrote.

During this same period, however, the independent quality-assurance company the state hired was reporting a disaster in the making.

“All 13 people interviewed believed the project's scope is ill-defined and classify it as a major risk,” reported Maximus.

In March, Maximus documented questions about what Lawson was showing CMS during those gate reviews.

“While there was a system design meeting with CMS using design documents prepared with assistance from Oracle, we cannot determine if this is the official, approved HIX-IT design,” reads page 27 of the report.

In April 2012, Lawson reported to the State Emergency Board that her team had shown “a working system build to executive stakeholders and sponsors.”

The presentation, she wrote, included an individual successfully signing up for insurance through the website.

In May, the federal government held a meeting with Oregon and the other states that had been issued early innovator grants.

During the meeting, Lawson’s team said Oregon’s exchange was producing a new working build every month, and reiterated that the website had been successfully demonstrated to CMS.

Remember, this was for a website that today still has more than a dozen critical coding errors, and for which there is still no estimated completion date.

“She showed us a nice smile and some jingles,” Sheehan said. “There was nothing else. There were screen shots … we never saw anything close to a functioning piece.”

Sheehan, by the way, has a background in web development.

"That could have been the smoke and mirrors that they were showing everyone which was not a live demo,” Sheehan said. “It would just be wire frames or a mock up.

"If they were able to connect the dots and if it's true, someone's going to prison. It would be fraud. It would be the State of Oregon, actually, willfully, misrepresenting something for federal funding."

Muslim Brotherhood Leader Meets Obama in White House

Controversial British MB leader participates in Iraq discussion
BY: Adam Kredo
February 5, 2014
freebeacon.com

A senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood was recently hosted at the White House for a meeting with President Barack Obama, prompting an outcry from critics of the global Islamist organization.

Anas Altikriti, a top British lobbyist for the Muslim Brotherhood whose father heads Iraq’s Muslim Brotherhood party, recently met with the president and Vice President Joe Biden as part of a delegation discussing problems in Iraq.

Altikriti, whose work has also been tied to Hamas, can be seen smiling in photos published by the White House as he stands next to Iraqi Parliament Speaker Usama al-Nujaifi, who is pictured shaking hands with President Obama in the White House’s Roosevelt Room. The meeting was first highlighted by the blog Harry’s Place.

The Obama administration has been criticized its outreach to the Muslim Brotherhood, the international Islamist organization whose members’ brief reign in Egypt was supported by the White House.

Nujaifi, Altikriti, and other members of the Iraqi delegation were in town late January to discuss al Qaeda’s growing presence in Iraq. Nujaifi himself was reported to have met twice with President Obama, though it remains unclear if Altikriti accompanied him on both occasions.

“President Barack Obama greets Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi, Iraqi Council of Representatives, after he drops by Vice President Joe Biden’s meeting with the Speaker in the Roosevelt Room of the White House,” read the White House’s photo caption, which clearly shows Altikriti standing to al-Nujaifi’s right side.

A White House spokesman confirmed that Altikriti was brought to the meeting to serve as a translator for al-Nujaifi.

Others present in the meeting included “Puneet Talwar, senior director for Iraq, Iran, and the Gulf at the [National Security Council], Philip Gordon, special assistant to the president and White House director for the Middle East, Brett McGurk, deputy assistant secretary for Iraq and Iran, and Andrew Kim, director for Iraq,” according to the White House pool report filed on that day.

The meeting focused on ways the United States can help local Iraqi leaders combat al Qaeda.

“This afternoon, President Obama joined Vice President Joe Biden’s meeting with Iraqi Council of Representatives Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and a delegation of Iraqi parliamentarians,” read a Jan. 22 statement issued by the White House about the meeting. “Both sides reaffirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq.”

Altikriti’s presence in the White House was surprising to many who said the U.K. organization he heads, the Cordoba Foundation, has been singled out by British Prime Minister David Cameron as the “political front for the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Paul Stott, an U.K. academic and expert in British jihadism at the University of East Anglia, said Altikriti’s presence in the meetings represents “part of the long term U.S.-U.K. engagement with the Muslim Brotherhood, a strategy which hit choppy waters when it became clear people in Egypt were far from ready to let the [Muslim Brotherhood] run the country the way they wanted.”

“The coup could have put paid to this glad handing, but it is clearly continuing,” Stott said.

Altikriti has been called the “key political lobbyist for the Muslim Brotherhood in Britain.”

His Cordoba Foundation has been criticized for working “closely with other British extremist groups which seek the creation of an Islamic dictatorship, or caliphate, in Europe,” according to the British Telegraph newspaper.

Altikriti formerly served as a spokesman for the British Muslim Initiative (BMI), a group that has been singled out for close links to Hamas. BMI’s founder and president Mohammed Sawalha has served as a senior military operative for Hamas.

Altikriti himself has stirred controversy for publicly backing Hamas and advocating that Iraqis use “any means and methods” to free themselves from occupation.

Altikriti also defended the Muslim Council of Britain’s 2007 decision to boycott Holocaust Memorial Day. He referred to the group’s position as a “principled stand.”

The Cordoba Foundation did not respond to a request for comment.

Fugitive Ecuadorian Embezzlers Tied to DWS, Other Pols
BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff
February 5, 2014
freebeacon.com

The two fugitive Ecuadorian bankers at the center of Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D., N.J.) latest alleged FBI investigation have also contributed to other politicians, including Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R., Fla.), Bill Nelson (D., Fla.), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.), the Daily Beast reports:

Florida Republican Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, while she was chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter to federal agencies on behalf of two Ecuadorian bankers convicted of embezzlement who were seeking U.S. residency. She also advocated for their family members, who donated over $20,000 to her campaign. […]

The congresswoman denied any quid pro quo and maintained there was nothing wrong regarding her work on behalf of the Isaias brothers. The congresswoman said her advocacy on the bankers’ behalf was simply a matter of routine constituent service. […]

In addition to Menendez and Ros-Lehtinen, Isaias family members also contributed to the campaigns of Florida Sen. Bill Nelson, Florida Congresswoman and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and Florida Rep. Joe Garcia, all Democrats.

The FBI probe is allegedly looking into whether Menendez traded political favors for campaign contributions from family members of the two brothers. William and Roberto Isaias, who were convicted of embezzlement in abstentia by Ecuador’s autocratic government, have been living in Florida under threat of extradition from the Correa regime.

Menendez received contributions from Isaias family members and sent letters to federal officials on the brothers’ behalf, but denies any wrongdoing.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who runs the Democratic National Committee and has worked to kill an Iran sanctions resolution in the House, received at least $7,500 from the Isaias family members in 2012, according to FEC records.
