They presumably have over $20 billion left from then. They also generated $1.74 billion of cash weekly last quarter. That equates to about $1.3 billion weekly this quarter. That is another $6.5 billion. They easily could issue another $25 billion in low rate laddered debt. That adds to about $50 billion in potential capacity after paying out the dividend next week.


The proportion of cash generated this quarter is going to be much higher overseas than in the December quarter. They also have some level of working capital that they arent going to fall below. I cant remember if Apple has ever mentioned a number but my WAG would put it around $10 billion. They'll need to raise quite a bit of money to do another $50 billion in buybacks.

Sort of interesting that they are being so much more aggressive today than they were over the summer when the stock price was substantially lower. Perhaps the impact of progress on new products or perhaps Icahn did have an influence.
