In a time when everybody seems to disrespect what it means to be American, watch what Usain Bolt does.

theblacksphere.net

I have seen many Americans, particularly blacks, do nothing when the national anthem is played. And yet, here is a Jamaican sprinter who has the class to stop an interview, and pay tribute to Americans.

Liberals Call Protestors “Racists” for Holding Up the American Flag
Written By : Cassy Fiano
May 6, 2014

Liberals are always the first ones to bleat about how important tolerance is, yet they’re shockingly intolerant of anything they disagree with. Case in point: Tea Partiers are protesting a school district’s decision to not allow students to wear American flags on Cinco de Mayo for fear of offending Mexican students — and being called racists because of it.

About 30 protesters holding American flags are silently standing outside of Live Oak High School on the anniversary of a controversial incident that gained national attention.

The protesters have indicated they won’t have anything to say until classes start at 8:15 a.m.

Students arrived at school under tight police security, four years after a small group of Live Oak students came to school on Cinco de Mayo wearing American flag T-shirts, saying it was a sign of their patriotism. Latino students felt it was a sign of disrespect. Administrators told the students to wear the T-shirts inside out or go home.

We’ve gotten to the point that we’re calling the American flag racist in order to offend students celebrating another country’s relatively minor holiday. And we have no one to blame but ourselves — after all, this is what happens when a country thrives on perpetual outrage and celebrates victimhood.

Dion Waiters denies skipping anthem for religious reasons;
.............................................................................................................

Dion Waiters says he plans to skip the anthem, though he stood for it Friday. (Getty Images) UPDATE: There has been a Twitter denial, which is strange because the original story used a direct quote:

And here's what he said after Friday's game:

----

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters told Cleveland.com he recently informed Cavs ownership that he is Muslim and that he will abstain from joining his team during the national anthem, doing so Wednesday night in Utah -- though Waiters did stand with the Cavs during Friday's anthem at Denver.

On Wednesday, the first game Waiters was coming off the bench for Cleveland, he was not on the floor during the anthem or when the starters were introduced. Waiters told the Northeast Ohio Media Group he was following his religious beliefs by not standing for the anthem.

Waiters informed Northeast Ohio Media Group that he is a Muslim and that he plans to excuse himself prior to the national anthem from here on out.

"It's because of my religion," Waiters told NEOMG. "That's why I stayed in the locker room."

Waiters says he is rededicating himself more to his Muslim faith. He appears to be in a happier state.

Waiters, however, did stand with his team during [Friday's] national anthem. Maybe he's selective.

via Dion Waiters informs NEOMG that he is a Muslim and plans to skip national anthems | cleveland.com.

The situation bears resemblance to onetime Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, who refused to stand for the anthem because of political and religious beliefs, and was suspended by the NBA before reaching a compromise with the team.

Waiters, 22, is averaging 10.3 points on 40 percent shooting for the Cavaliers.

Like most basketball players, this guy is too stupid to realize the National Anthem is not a religious statement. But Waiters has no problem with the freedom he enjoys in this country, cashing huge American paychecks and not having to crap in a hole in the floor

Treason is defined as a violation or betrayal of allegiance toward one's country - and Mr. Waiter's obnoxious attitude seems to fit that definition.

I bet the NBA contacted him and told him he would get suspended if he did it again

For those who do not care to/want to stand up for the Anthem: if you were part of the 1% of military veterans in the country you would know why you are standing.

Watch Canadian Hockey Fans Help Finish the U.S. National Anthem After the Singer’s Mic Fails

..............................................................................
Time ^ | 20 Nov 2014 | Samantha Grossman

At a Toronto Maple Leafs game Tuesday night, singer Michelle Madeira was partway through The Star-Spangled Banner when her mic cut out. She continued singing, but of course, the crowd couldn’t hear her. Without missing a beat, the entire crowd picked up where Madeira left off, completing the U.S. national anthem in unison.

Fans kept up the enthusiasm and sang O Canada right after.

See? Hockey fans aren’t just drunken and rowdy and prone to fighting. They’re also sometimes really awesome.
