Evolution can no more be doubted than sciatica. I have always wondered, however, what it is that urges life to...well...survive? In other words--what is the root of 'desire'? Where does this "preference" originate? Is it possibly the ground of all existence--the essential core of all energy? We witness it in every form of life. Was it always immanent before life sprang from (seemingly) insensate atoms--like Athena from the head of Zeus? Perhaps life and non-life are fundamentally the same?
