Well there's no denying that this "God" was most merciful, here's what you got when you were promised to be his chosen children.You were destroyed, massacred, tortured & sold into slavery...again, & again & again. How can anyone miss the irony or historical reality? Only Christians seem to have this uncanny knack of remaining blind to history,the Egyptians got off easy with the seven plagues compared with what God's own chosen children ended up with. And we're not done yet , the mushroom clouds & flash of super heated radiation can still threaten to scorch & destroy. Not over till they get rid of the madness.

Well, we are all clueless about the nature of things. We could be "ants" to some more cosmic perspective. Indeed, we might even be "ant-sized". But the point is that we do have brains and a clear methodology in confronting reality and learning how things work--and even sometimes...WHY! And if we wish to honor our Reason and our humanity we will do two things: 1. We will admit how very little we know and how indecent it is to pretend otherwise, and 2. We will embrace the very little that we do know--as that is all we have. And that means that we will not pretend that any one superstition has any truth value when they ALL violate the laws of logic and the accumulated facts that humans have acquired. The earth is NOT 6000 years old. Rainbows were NOT invented after a "flood". And Moses did NOT wipe out the Midianites and rape all the virgins without the loss of a single soldier! DIDN'T HAPPEN! But you gotta love these words of "God" and think about the mindset of these tribes! "Be hostile to the Midianites and strike them; for they have been hostile to you with their tricks, with which they have deceived you in the affair of Peor, and in the affair of Cozbi, the daughter of the leader of Midian, their sister who was slain on the day of the plague because of Peor," LOVE IT!
