agreed I don't think genuine dialog is possible We readily accept the limits of what can be discussed elsewhere: you don't attend a church service to discuss atheism Ford dealers stay away from Chevy dealer conventions you don't demand math instruction in an English class only on discussion boards do some people think all topics should be allowed. Your point is well taken. Recently, I was involved in a dialogue with a few right wingers (i-node was one (Born again Fundamental Christian) who eventually put me on ignore) who were quite biased against gays and it just degenerated into personal insults, which got quite boring for me after a day or so. I never lost any sleep over it or carried it over to any other facet of my life. That is to say, I hardly thought about it. If they post on my threads and make offensive right wing comments, they are gone immediately without even a comment. Why should I waste an emotion over sh&t? I once got banned from two sports threads from a right wing moderator because I said "the most useful thing I can find in the American Flag is to wipe my Arse with it after I move my bowels." I meant what I said and still hold to the view today because I vehemently object to the right wing politicizing of American Sports. Just ban the right wingers and then ignore them. They are not worth any emotion or feeling whatsoever.
