I think so too :-) Although not everyone here agrees. But I'd find it really disruptive, at a party, if everyone voted after every comment. What I like is thinking about things without such distractions. And sometimes I find that comments I didn't even comment on, stay with me for longer than comments I did comment on. And all posts go in to making up the thread of conversation, and you never know where that will lead- so I don't want anyone to feel discouraged they didn't get kudos for a post- and I don't want it to feel like a popularity contest, because that's far too high school for adults, I think. I feel that way about Facebook- I think the "likes" are stupid, so I like everything, because I don't want anyone (and especially not some of my shy students, who are on FB) to think they are somehow less worthy because they didn't get a lot of likes. The cheerleaders- who I think may have the most inane feed I've ever read- routinely get more likes than anyone, which just goes to show the "value" of likes and recommendations.
