From a medium- to long-term perspective, US software giants and financial institutions should come out ahead. During the recent devaluation of Asian stock markets, the US and IMF played crucial roles in circumventing a further downturn. The American influence in Asia is stronger than it's been in decades. This will sway Asian commerce and government towards what companies like Microsoft, Oracle and JP Morgan have to offer. Their European rivals cannot expect to capture comparative market share.
