No, because Farah is exactly right... in being "skeptical" of Obama's intent. I share his skepticism... and note that the role he is playing is the role that the media MUST play... to prevent a democracy, even a democratic republic boasting divided government, from failing and becoming a tin horn dictatorship. Yes, because I think it is extremely unlikely Obama has the sort of political support that would need to exist to enable him in carrying out that nefarious design that Farah attributes to him. A national police force... composed of agency hacks from each of the alphabet agencies... is a stupid idea. If they run amok, Congress will defund them... States will oppose them... the public will resist. Turning every government agency into a law enforcement agency... will backfire... eventually resulting in over-whelming consensus that a government grown too large and too powerful needs to be made smaller... whether before or only after the nation chokes on the bloat... who knows. Democrats have to know... they're not going to win the next election... even if they cheat, again... and whatever they create now... and whatever they do to their political opposition now... may well be revisited on their own heads soon enough. Or, not... maybe they think that can't happen ? Maybe they're stupid. Or, maybe Farah is right... that they don't intend for there to BE another election. A national police force... composed of political hacks, cronies, Acorn organizers and other criminals selected from among the clueless and willing, who respond to the call and direction of the President ? That's actually happened before in our history... or, something like it has... but, that band of thugs that were assembled didn't turn out to amount to all that much... because the President's political foes responded, and they had then, as they have now, every right to respond, by creating a countervailing armed force of their own... that does not answer to the call and direction provided by the President. If we do want to again convert faction among our political parties into opposing armed camps... it won't be the first time in our history that's happened. Washington and Adams, as a part of that effort, that intended to re-write the Constitution by ignoring it, and tried to re-create the Presidency to impose him as a powerful executive with extra-Constitutional monarchical powers (any of this sounding vaguely familiar ?) did pass laws that outlawed free speech (The Alien and Sedition Acts)... and with them also tried to abolish the free press... in-spite of the plain language of the Constitution... that had been drafted only a dozen years before ? Then, too, the call to war was used as an excuse to justify support for enabling an all powerful Executive... Freedom suffered, for a time... but it was not extinguished under Adams tyranny, and freedom was reborn (in the natural political reaction to recognition of the same sorts of problems as we see Obama imposing, or exposing, now, that are similarly gaining recognition, now), under Jefferson. The political party that was the source of those problems... was popular in its deceptions, and won elections... but it soon ceased to exist as the deceptions were revealed. Obama's plan to lead his party to destroy itself by the same means... including lying to people to get elected... isn't novel, or one I'd approve of... even if I would appreciate his succeeding in accelerating that end result that generates a reversal in trend. That seems, to me, an inevitable result of excess born of reading the tea leaves wrong... now, as it was then. The excesses of the Federalists, then... bear striking similarities to those fostered today by those responsible for the similar issues today... enabling a government that is not only capable of violating the peoples rights... but wishes and chooses to do so, in spite of the language of the Constitution prohibiting it... Farah is still quite right to point out... that obvious plans crafting an invitation to enable the destruction of the Republic, and invite civil war, is an obviously bad idea... now, just as it was then... The design of our government... is one that recognizes that ANY government granted too much power is the source of unspeakable evil. So, we will not tolerate too much power being concentrated in the Federal government, or too much power being concentrated in the hands of the Executive... If Congress is stupid (just as it was in Adam's day... after all, Congress did pass the Alien and Sedition Acts... and didn't repent until the Federalists were run out of town on a rail) and doesn't act to defend their own "turf" under the Constitution ? There's other turf... State legislatures acting to defund any and all state provided support of the NSA... while that agency tramples roughshod over the Constitution... provides some evidence of that as a natural inclination that still exists... that will not be easily avoided... I do not doubt that any state faced with the actual fact in the creation of Obama's hoped for Brownshirt Army... will outlaw any support for that outrage... while imposing state laws that will criminalize their operations... and you can bet States and opposing political parties will each mount their own equal and opposite forces if that proves necessary... to combat Presidential subversion of the Constitution.
