TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1998--Seahawk Deep Ocean Technology Inc. (OTC BB:SDOT.O), the Tampa-based oceanographic company that specializes in the search and recovery of deep water shipwrecks, is to be featured in a television documentary called, "Under Pressure: Exploring The Deep" to be screened Feb. 21, 1998 at 12:30 p.m. on Channel 16, which airs in central Florida. The program will be repeated at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday the 24th. The program, produced by Christopher Rish and co-produced by Martha Bone at WUSF Television is part of the Science Adventure series. It will focus on technological developments in deep ocean exploration including the search and recovery of deep water shipwrecks. Seahawk is in "Under Pressure: Exploring The Deep" because it is one of the few specialist companies in the world that uses the most recent advances in inner-space technology to locate and salvage ancient shipwrecks. The company's deep water archaeological excavation of a Spanish ship that sank off of the Dry Tortugas in the 17th century will be featured. The recovery of the Dry Tortugas shipwreck yielded almost 17,000 artifacts, including gold bars, mariner's astrolabes and a large collection of olive jars. The entire and unique collection of artifacts has been conserved by Seahawk's archaeological team and is on display to the public at Michael's International Museum in Key West. "Under Pressure: Exploring The Deep" will also look at other areas of deep sea exploration where modern advances in enabling technologies is opening up new frontiers in the world's oceans. Also to be included are segments on hydro thermal vents and the Titanic. Seahawk has searched for and found a number of shipwrecks since it was formed in 1989. The company is currently involved in a variety of shipwreck projects around the world from the eastern seaboard of the United States, to the Caribbean and in South America. --30--lhs/mi* CONTACT: Seahawk Deep Ocean Technology, Inc., Tampa John Lawrence, CEO, 813/832-4040 KEYWORD: FLORIDA INDUSTRY KEYWORD: ENTERTAINMENT TRANSPORTATION ENVIRONMENT ENMED Today's News On The Net - Business Wire's full file on the Internet with Hyperlinks to your home page.
