BC,
So when Pilate offered to let Jesus go and the people screamed "Crucify him!", that shouldn't be held against them?
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." - Luke 23:34

Jesus wasn't crucified by the Jews. Jesus was crucified by our own sins.

If you don't buy that theology, that's fine, but then don't bother calling yourself a Christian, either.

Hi Broken_Clock; Re: "So when Pilate offered to let Jesus go and the people screamed "Crucify him!", that shouldn't be held against them?";

Your arguments are *very* convincing and you've changed my mind on this subject.

From now on, I'm not going to have anything to do with the people who screamed "Crucify him!"

That's just barbaric. It's a barbaric punishment andI won't have any sort of business with them.

I won't vote for them either.

Now to make sure I am able to follow my new resolution can you give me their names? I can't avoid doing business with "the people", so if I'm going to make sure my business is done with civilized people I will need to have the names of the barbaric ones.

There couldn't have been more than a few thousand people at the scene. It shouldn't be much trouble to get a list of their names, could it? Of course, over the years, some of them have probably died but we can get a list of the ones that are still running around unpunished, can't we?

And be really careful about those names. I wouldn't want to accidentally punish someone who had nothing to do with the crime. In the United States, after all, a person is presumed innocent until they are convicted of a crime. Since we don't punish racial types or religious beliefs, we need a list of the individuals involved, not a general description of the clothes they were wearing or what sort of language they spoke., etc.
