To be truthful about it, I really don't know how we got from where we were to where we are. I do think the slavery issue had to be dealt with, and should have been dealt with at the time of the Constitution. But the people creating the Constitution knew enough to know that the process could not withstand it. So, all things considered, Lincoln made the right choice. While there was a critical states rights issue, someone at that point had to be able to stand up and say this is how it is going to be. I don't think anyone would have benefited from putting it off.

So, I don't really hold it against Lincoln. And I've seen a lot of states rights eroded in my lifetime, so it would be hard to lay it all off on him.

yes we know... they took away the state's right to own slaves

sorry, the Federal Govt outlawed slavery, sorry that pisses you off

if you want to live in a country that allows people to be bought and sold as cattle then shoot yourself in the head and maybe you can be re-incarnated and come back as a slave trader in the 18th century... go ahead, what are you waiting for
