SZYM has sidelined fuel in favor of more lucrative oils - at least temporarily. Instead they're aiming at the cosmetic and food markets, which pay higher prices. Coconut oil is one product they can substitute - it's price has fluctuated by 400% recently. management are keen to point out they can do better than merely provide substitutes; they're able to tailor the chemistry of their production to meet customers needs.

>Just curious if their product line is price competitive (or has some physical advantage) over oil based products.

Hawk: What I found most interesting that it's partnered with ADM a powerhouse. ADM took a bit of a write off on their Metabolix biopolymers venture. (plastics from corn)
IMO good risk taking due to a potential windfall in time. Once again it seems more suitable for them that they get in on the ground floor.

I guess only time will tell the commercial viability. I just try and make a buck off what I can, whether it's politically correct or not.<G> Not invested yet, but watching.

P.S. I don't think plastics from corn is dead yet as it applies to plastic packaging. Carbon footprint and all that Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) stuff.
