"As for praying for our leaders…..what does that mean to you?"

Beyond the obvious evil that we see in many of our leaders, there is still the mystery of finding God's hand in what they say and do. No matter how evil, each one has a free pass into the Kingdom of God through the blood of Jesus. As they push many of their evil policies they sleep a sleep of spiritual death. The individual actions of leaders whether they are in the place of Pontius Pilate or in the place of the religious High Priest, remains a mystery until God reveals the eternal purpose of their actions. What the High Priest and Scribes meant for an evil execution, turned out to be an eternal sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. What Pilate considered an execution for the benefit of his career by to satisfying the powerful Jewish Sanhedrin turned out to be the mechanism to fulfill the eternal sacrifice. God often uses our foolish actions and words and turns them to good. Didn't the High Priest Caiaphas say : 'Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.' Do you think Caiaphas had the slightest idea of the full meaning of that statement?

For me the prayers for all those in authority, whether good men or evil, contributes in a mysterious way to God's purpose in: "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
It's trusting in the love, mercy and justice of God when it doesn't make sense to the natural mind. The only limit for me is that I will not follow an ordinance or law that denies the right to proclaim the Gospel.

1 Tim. 2
[1] I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
[2] For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
[3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
[4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 Pet. 2
[13] Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
[14] Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

[15] For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
[16] As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
[17] Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
