Money talks. People think that with the win by his party, the Indian stock market will begin to rise again. HIs party is more business friendly than the party in power. Besides, all politics is local. What he did as the Chief Minister of a state that was the cause of his estrangement from the US is something that will not happen when he is the PM because the national party's platform is very different particularly on business issues. His party is very favorable to the US and is significantly anti-Russian and Saudi Arabia. So it serves the US' geo-political interests very well.
