Just another prediction.

IMO today is the bottom for the Semi Equipment.

So folks if you want to play with the big boys DO IT NOW and wait till Septamber.
There will be small dips to shake you out somhen in March or April but I sugest to hang on till the big boys sound the tumpets at the end of summer of '98.

Good luck and bite yourself before you sale it might hurt less!

Prudential Lowers'98 est. (Maintains buy rating) Analyst Milind Bedekar tells salesforce cutting $2.14 '98 EPS est. to $1.79 as result of pending sharp Korean cutbacks. Sees $2.28 '99 EPS.

Notes: Maintains buy, but thinks investors need to be patient with stock. Stocks like AMAT will begin to discount 2H '98 DRAM supply/demand balance. Possibility of strong 99'.

Nov. 14th AMAT raised F98 $2.15 from 2.08. Has anyone heard from them since?

I have been following this thread for years. I felt compelled to jump in and finally leave a post. BB, good job you called it. I think that if one has the cash to set aside and wait, a large investment in both AMAT and ORCL will provide huge returns in the next 12 - 18 months. Off the subject, I think Boeing and Travelers are also good bets. In the short term, the obvious stated, I think companies with limited exposure to Asia and Europe will benefit (GAP, etc). The problem with Asia and Europe is a double hit to U.S. companies. Exports go down due to the cost of those companies doing business with us, and the sales which the U.S. companies do have in those countries lose out on the U.S. F/S in the form of the currency conversion due to the strength of the dollar. We should see the affect soon on most major U.S. global companies. I hope I can add some value to the thread. On the cuff, since this is my first post to thread, I put a target price on AMAT at 12/11/98 at $50-......... C-Ya soon

"BB, darn it - not only were you right,
you're also gracious about it! Ascertaining
that the company is fundamentally sound is
some comfort."

I'll join the cheering; he has been very gracious the past two months as he held his ground.
