Get this.. in one small town, where I have some old friends, a couple started up a beer joint/cafe. They made sandwiches and salads to go and had a brisk walk in business at lunch time. Their place was in the same complex as an IGA (a grocery chain with local franchises). So quite a few of their lunch time customers would get a sandwich and a drink, eat it in their car, then go do a little grocery shopping.
After about a year of this, the local Wal Mart, the biggest employer in town, put in a new rule: All employee lunches had to be taken on site. No leaving their large parking lot property.
So their employees were stuck with either buying their food from their own employer, or bringing a bag lunch
from home.
The folks with the little beer joint/cafe lost half their business. They closed after another six months.
The IGA is still there, carries only off brand merchandaise. No Fab, Tide, Folgers, Coke, etc.
