"Southern Baptists tell women to be subservient to men."

Nope. That's a glittering generality. Southern Baptists have as much variety as any other large group of people. That's like saying all atheists are communists. Here in Southern Baptist land, some of the most assertive Women's Lib ladies I know are Southern Baptists and two of the biggest demonstrating groups for equal rights for minorities and women are Southern Baptist congregations. They don't get much coverage though.
The Pat Robertson types are much easier to hold up.
These liberal women do have something in common, though. The ones I know are all well-educated.
I know several Southern Baptist women in their 60's who are active in the 'Raging Grannies'. Great group.

That post doesn't go to my main point that Mainstream Protestant groups (Presbyterians, Methodists, and Episcopalians) have "evolved" on women's role in Christiandom and the trend is for greater equality for females in those Churches.
