The enforcing of the Fair trade laws would have prevented the underpricing you referenced, but I don't think it would have stopped the Wal Mart juggernaut. For the consumer it was a better mouse trap--not that the fall out didn't result in both social and commercial disruption, but that has always been the case in America hasn't it when the better mouse traps arrive?

Once the majority of us stopped being free farmers we were destined toward being corporate people were we not? But does this mean we will become Fascists? I still think we have enough outlets of economic expression to prevent this,but not to say the possibility doesn't exist.
