This provides some historical data from 1980. My family tried to buy a two bedroom one bath home with a one car garage out of an estate sale. The sale went to court and the final price was just about 120,000. The attorney who bought it, flipped it for around 150,000. That was in 1978 or 1979.

The real estate market in Lompoc rose on fell on the contracts that were awarded to Vandenberg Air Force Base. The base somewhat influences the prices in Santa Maria during that time period.
