That's a pretty good list. I had forgotten a few of those. I do recall this.. I was embarrassed for the country during his time in office. But I was embarrassed by our political system, too. Still am. But it's what we have.

"Obama is just like Reagan? or even more right wing?"

Sad, isn't it? You have to watch what they do, not what they say.

"Reagan was a union buster", while Obama said "I love unions, except when they take to the streets in Madison cuz they are fighting for their lives and they need me, in which case I'll ignore them."

RR started LIHEAP, and BO is doing his best to destroy it....

A federal energy assistance program that began in the Reagan administration could be cut in half by the Obama administration. The president has proposed a $2.5 billion dollar reduction to the budget of LIHEAP, or Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps struggling families pay the bills that heat and cool their homes. LOE’s Washington correspondent Mitra Taj reports on the controversial budget item.

Obama is a bigger corporate stooge than the tax increasing Raygun was. Go figure....

In the mid-1980s, President Ronald Reagan overhauled the tax system after learning that G.E. — a company for which he had once worked as a commercial pitchman — was among dozens of corporations that had used accounting gamesmanship to avoid paying any taxes.

"I didn’t realize things had gotten that far out of line," Mr. Reagan told the Treasury secretary, Donald T. Regan, according to Mr. Regan’s 1988 memoir. The president supported a change that closed loopholes and required G.E. to pay a far higher effective rate, up to 32.5 percent.

This isn’t the first time Americans have had to deal with a tax code that lets the nation’s richest firms get away with shirking their tax responsibilities. In the middle of his presidency, then-president Ronald Reagan learned that a number of big corporations, including his former employer, General Electric, were completely escaping paying federal corporate income taxes. “I didn’t realize things had gotten that far out of line,” Reagan told his Treasury secretary, Donald T. Regan, according to his 1988 memoir.

So Reagan undertook a comprehensive tax reform effort that actually raised the corporate taxes and closed numerous loopholes that allowed big firms to dodge their tax responsibilities. As part of these reforms, Reagan passed the 1986 Tax Reform Act. This law “ raised corporate taxes by $120 billion over five years and closed corporate tax loopholes worth about $300 billion over that same period.”

RR increased government employees, raised SS taxes, raised income taxes, raised corporate taxes, quadrupled the deficit while tripling the debt, and was a Keynesian who spent money to increase employment. Raygun "I support the Brady Bill" signed gun laws in Calif. cuz he didn't want the Panthers to exercise their second amendment rights. Environmentalist Raygun signed the world's first coastal protection plan. Gay marriage wasn't an issue, but he had many gay friends in Hollywood, and one daughter says he'd be in favor.

every federal budget for more than four decades has provided public funds to Planned Parenthood and the preventative health care services they provide. That would include, by the way, budgets approved under five Republican presidents -- Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush, and Bush -- none of whom saw the need to scrap funding for the health organization

The 2013 Appalachian Voices report, "Growth of U.S. Coal Jobs: Federal Data Showing Coal Mining Employment Trending Higher Since 2009," looks at Mining Safety and Health Administration data on coal mining jobs, which shows that the average number of coal-mining jobs under the Obama administration has been 15.3 percent higher than the average under George W. Bush. The report points to increased exports and decreasing productivity - requiring more workers to extract harder to reach coal - as reasons for the increase.

California Proposition 6 was an initiative on the California State ballot on November 7, 1978, [1] and was more commonly known as The Briggs Initiative. [2] Sponsored by John Briggs, a conservative state legislator from Orange County, the failed initiative would have banned gays and lesbians, and possibly anyone who supported gay rights, from working in California's public schools. The Briggs Initiative was the first failure in a movement...
Openly gay San Francisco native and politician Harvey Milk was instrumental in fighting the measure, and opposition from a variety of public figures from California Governor Ronald Reagan to President Jimmy Carter helped to defeat it. Public opinion swung fairly quickly from general support of Proposition 6 to what became overwhelming opposition.
