Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road ?

BILL CLINTON:

I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. Could you please define the term chicken?

ERNEST HEMINGWAY:

To die. In the rain.

HERMES TRISMEGISTIS:

Did the chicken really cross the road or did the road move beneath the chicken?

LOUIS FARRAKHAN:

The road, you will see, represents the black man. The chicken crossed the "black man" in order to trample him and keep him down.

GRANDPA:

In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.

COLONEL SANDERS:

I missed one?

ARISTOTLE:

It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

FOX MULDER:

You saw it cross the road with your own eyes. How many more chickens have to cross before you believe it?

FREUD:

The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.

Farmers’ Almanac more accurate than government climate scientists
....................................................................
02/20/2014 by Michael Bastasch
dailycaller.com

This exceptionally cold and snowy winter has shown that government climate scientists were dead wrong when it came to predicting just how cold this winter would be, while the 197-year old Farmers’ Almanac predicted this winter would be “bitterly cold”.

Bloomberg Businessweek reports that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center (CPC) predicted temperatures would be “above normal from November through January across much of the lower 48 states.”

This, however, was dead wrong. As Bloomberg notes, the CPC underestimated the “mammoth December cold wave, which brought snow to Dallas and chilled partiers in Times Square on New Year’s Eve.”

CPC grades its prediction accuracy on a Heidke skill score, which ranges from 100 (perfect accuracy) to -50 (no better than playing pin the tail on the donkey while blindfolded).

CPC’s score for October’s weather predictions for November through January was -22 and the September weather prediction for October through December was at -23.

“Not one of our better forecasts,” Mike Halpert, the Climate Prediction Center’s acting director, told Bloomberg Businessweek.

What actually happened this winter? A “polar vortex” swept down and caused every state except Florida to experience snowfall and brought about 4,406 record low temperatures across the U.S. in January along with 1,073 record snowfalls.

The most recent winter storm that slammed into the eastern U.S. last week knocked out power for more than 1 million people in the Southeast and caused 21 deaths along the East Coast. More than 2,500 flights were delayed last Friday and 1,500 were canceled from East Coast airports.

Who could have predicted such a harsh winter? The Farmers Almanac did, according to a CBS News report from August 2013. The nearly 200-year old publication hit newsstands last summer and predicted that “a winter storm will hit the Northeast around the time the Super Bowl is played at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands in New Jersey,” and also predicted “a colder-than-normal winter for two-thirds of the country and heavy snowfall in the Midwest, Great Lakes and New England.”

“We’re using a very strong four-letter word to describe this winter, which is C-O-L-D. It’s going to be very cold,” Sandi Duncan, the almanac’s managing editor, told CBS News in August.

While there was thankfully no snow on Super Bowl Sunday, those sad Broncos fans trying to get back home from New Jersey had some trouble as snow started falling the day after the most important football game of the year.

The Midwest and Great Lakes regions also saw terribly cold weather and record levels of snowfall this winter. Major Midwest cities like Chicago, Cincinnati and Detroit have seen record levels of snowfall. Chicago alone saw 45.8 inches of snow by the end of January, and, as of Friday, the Great Lakes were 90 percent frozen over.

The Midwest and New England were hit with frigid weather and snow for long periods of time. So long, in fact, that there were propane shortages and natural gas prices spiked due to increased need for heating and supply bottlenecks.

The Farmers’ Almanac makes predictions based on planetary positions, sunspots and lunar cycles — a prediction system that has remained largely unchanged since its first publication in 1818. While modern scientists don’t put much stock in the almanac’s way of doing things, the book says it’s accurate about 80 percent of the time.

Democrats Try to Bully Cancer Sufferer Into Silence
.......................................................................................
Power Line by John Hinderaker

I wrote here about a hard-hitting Obamacare ad that Americans For Prosperity is running in Michigan. The ad features Julie Boonstra, a Michigan resident who suffers from leukemia. Mrs. Boonstra had an excellent health care plan, which gave her access to top-notch doctors and the treatments that she needs. But she lost that coverage because of Obamacare. The ad targets Congressman Gary Peters, who voted for Obamacare. The ad is, as I wrote, devastating.

Now the Democrats
are striking back. They are calling Mrs. Boonstra a liar, and are demanding that Michigan television stations stop broadcasting the ad–an implicit admission of how damaging it is to Peters, who is running for the Senate. The Democrats’ cease and desist letter was signed by two lawyers from the powerful Perkins, Coie firm in Washington, D.C. You can read their letter here. The Democrats, using a one-two punch, also apparently complained to Glenn Kessler, who writes the Washington Post’s “Fact Checker” column.

The gist of the Democrats’ complaint is that Mrs. Boonstra has been able to acquire coverage under Obamacare that is just as good, and approximately as expensive, as what she had before. The lawyers for Peters’s campaign wrote in their cease and desist letter:

[T]here does not appear to be any evidence that the Affordable Care Act has made Ms. Boonstra’s plan, or health insurance plans generally, “unaffordable.” Ms. Boonstra has previously told the Detroit News that her monthly premiums were cut in half. Additionally, under the Affordable Care Act, health insurance plans have an out-of-pocket maximum, capping the total amount that an individual would ever have to pay for medical services in a year. The conclusion of the Washington Post is that Ms. Boostra’s savings in premiums alone will likely match her annual out-of-pocket expenses.

That seems right, as far as it goes: at the end of the year, the cost approximately breaks even. But it is far from the whole story. Recently Mrs. Boonstra went to pick up a critical medicine from her pharmacy, and found that it is no longer covered. So that turned into a major out-of-pocket expense. Moreover, under Mrs. Boonstra’s new policy, out-of-pocket expenses are accumulated rapidly, early in the year. Mrs. Boonstra, unlike so many Democrats, is not wealthy. The issue of when she incurs expenses–the ability to space them through the year–is, to her, an important element of affordability.

But here is the real point: Why is Mrs. Boonstra in this situation at all? She had health insurance coverage that she understood, with which she was perfectly happy, and which provided her with the critical medical services and medicines that she needs to have a chance to stay alive. She was lied to. President Obama told her, dozens of times, that if she liked her health insurance, she could keep it. Other Democrats, like Gary Peters, told her the same thing, even though they knew it was not true.

They lied because they needed to lie to pass legislation to concentrate power in Washington. Now, as the result of the Democrats’ lies, Mrs. Boonstra, like millions of other Americans, has lost the insurance policy that she had, and is forced to scramble around to try to cobble together coverage, via a pathetically dysfunctional exchange system, in hopes that it might turn out to be nearly as good as the coverage the Democratic Party took away from her. She is still trying to figure out what her new plan will cost (and when) and what it will and will not cover, even as she continues to battle for her life.

That is a powerful story, one that the Obama administration, and its minions like Gary Peters, don’t want voters to hear. So the Democrats’ thugs are trying to silence Mrs. Boonstra.

Contemptibly, the Obama administration’s lawyers have threatened to use the Democrat-dominated Federal Communications Commission to take away the licenses of television stations that run the AFP ad:

You have an obligation “to protect the public from false, misleading or deceptive advertising.” Licensee Responsibility With Respect to the Broadcast of False, Misleading or Deceptive Advertising, 74 F.C.C.2d 623 (1961). Failure to prevent the airing of “false and misleading advertising” may be “probative of an underlying abdication of licensee responsibility” that can be cause for the loss of a station’s license. See Cosmopolitan Broad. Corp. v. FCC, 581 F.2d 917, 927 (D.C. Cir. 1978).

In other words: Nice television station you’ve got here. Shame if anything should happen to it.

But here’s a thought: didn’t this television station, and every other television station in Michigan, broadcast speeches by President Obama and many other Democrats in which they said that if you like your plan, you can keep it? Wasn’t that false and misleading advertising? That isn’t even a matter of debate: it was a flat-out lie, endlessly repeated on television and through other media. Far from being “false and misleading advertising,” the Julie Boonstra ad, and others like it, are necessary correctives to the worst lies ever foisted on the American people.

And the Democrats know it. That is why they are hysterical at the prospect of free speech. At the idea that people can openly discuss and debate the merits of Obamacare. At the possibility that they might finally be called to account for their endless lies, and pay the price at the ballot box. To avoid that fate, there is no thuggery to which the Obama administration and the Democratic Party will not stoop.

Julie Boonstra, one more time:

PAUL ADDS: Perkins, Coie, whose lawyers sent this cease and desist letter, is the law firm of Bob “The Reckoning” Bauer. As general counsel to the Obama campaign, Bauer filed complaints against groups supporting Obama’s opponents (including Hillary Clinton) in order to intimidate them and (in his words) make it “rough on the donors.”

Bauer’s wife is Anita Dunn,
the former director of communications at the White House. Dunn is best known for her attacks on Fox News.

Climate Alarmists Never Called Out For Spreading Fear

...............................................................................................
Investors' Business Daily ^ | 2-25-14 | Editorial

Al Gore was at it again over the weekend, scaring people unnecessarily about global warming. He, and others like him, should be held accountable for constantly trying to terrify the public. Will they ever be? Preaching Saturday in Kansas City, the former vice president and current hysteric in chief declared while prattling on about the California drought that "the Dust Bowl is coming back, quickly, unless we act."

About that first Dust Bowl, the one in the 1930s: Was that also caused by man-made global warming, during a time when human carbon dioxide emissions were much lower?

Or was it just a part of the natural climate cycle that's been running throughout Earth's history?

The Kansas City Star reported that Gore packed them in at the "Westin Crown Center ballroom."

The Nobel Prize winner regaled the audience "with a 90-minute presentation, using photos and videos to illustrate a litany of floods, wildfires, torrential rains, droughts, dust storms, rising sea levels and increasing world temperatures."

In other words, what they heard at the Folk Alliance International conference was just another installment in Gore's long line of public disservice.

The man has made a post-vice-presidency career of scaring people for no reason. From his wildly exaggerated "Inconvenient Truth" movie to his claim years ago that the north polar ice cap would be gone by 2013 — it wasn't — to loopy predictions that "we're approaching this tipping point," Gore has been spreading hysteria and fright like a farmer sows seeds.

And so have the Democrats who have followed. Just last week, Secretary of State John Kerry said global warming is "the world's most fearsome weapon of mass destruction." He's clearly taking cues from his boss, President Obama, who has said that climate change is the "global threat of our time."

Obviously Kerry is unaware that there are life-and-death events with long-term consequences occurring in Ukraine and Venezuela during a time in which America's global reputation is in sharp decline.

Meanwhile, it seems Obama hasn't noticed how poor his economic recovery has been and how many Americans are either out of work or are painfully underemployed.

Maybe shrieking about global warming is a politician's attempt to cover up his failures while Gore keeps the climate change flame burning because he has a deep need to keep proving himself relevant and an oversized ego to feed.

Though the causes of their obsession might be dissimilar, all alarmists have one thing in common: Their predictions of disaster — the superstorms, the underwater coastal cities, famine, mass starvation, the end of snow, the end of skiing, a dangerous refugee problem — have been wrong.

Sure, there's been some rough weather recently. But it's just weather. As far as we know, no reputable scientist has positively linked the unusual cold and snow to man-made global warming.

Every weather event, every temperature reading, every cloud or lack thereof that the alarmists spin as proof of man-made global warming is actually within the historical variability of our climate.

Despite their record of failed predictions, the alarmists have never been held accountable for needlessly stirring up fear and generating anxiety.

Nor have they been called out for assembling a class of citizens who constantly hector everyone else about their carbon dioxide emissions.

The alarmists are instead feted, celebrated, glorified and held up as noblemen by a media and political class that are as invested in the narrative as the alarmists are. There's been no critical assessment, little inquiry into their methods and zero questioning of their motives.

How Maddow’s MSNBC Takeover Dooms the Left
.........................................................................................
February 28, 2014 by Daniel Greenfield 4 Comments

Liberal media succeeds best when it isn’t identified as such. The reason for that can be seen in numerous polls where Americans of both parties identify themselves with conservative values.

The left is adept at selling its agenda through biased mainstream media coverage, but when it discards the disguise of objectivity on radio or television the end result is shrill, irritating and off-putting.

The playwright and director David Mamet achieved an epiphany while listening to NPR. Unfortunately for NPR the epiphany was that he was no longer a liberal. “I felt my facial muscles tightening,” he described, “and the words beginning to form in my mind: Shut the f___ up.”

The unfiltered left with its onslaught of sanctimonious bleating often brings out that reaction.

It’s why Air America not only couldn’t compete with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other conservative talk radio hosts, but it couldn’t even remain solvent. MSNBC, the bastard child of a ridiculous union between Microsoft and NBC, spent years drifting in search of an identity only to become the new Air America.

Why does the left, which is so adept at putting its agenda across in mainstream media outlets fail spectacularly when it puts away the disguise and begins saying what it really thinks?

George Orwell described the phenomenon in his book The Road to Wigan Pier. The behavior he is describing is so familiar that it’s worth pausing to remember that it was written 77 years ago in 1937.

“I do not think the Socialist need make any sacrifice of essentials, but certainly he will have to make a great sacrifice of externals,” Orwell wrote, explaining why the left was failing to make headway with more sensible people. “If only the sandals and the pistachio-coloured shirts could be put in a pile and burnt, and every vegetarian, teetotaler… sent home to Welwyn Garden City to do his yoga exercises quietly!”

Earlier, Orwell had denounced them as “vegetarians with wilting beards… earnest ladies in sandals, shock-headed Marxists chewing polysyllables, escaped Quakers, birth-control fanatics.”

Orwell would have found MSNBC familiar, not just because of its inversion of language and perpetual politicization of everything, but that same inbred club of irritating fanatics holding forth to a small audience that agrees dogmatically with their obsessions in every regard.

After drifting without an identity, MSNBC was reborn as a liberal news network and then finally as a network of sandal wearing transgender vegans and shock-headed Marxists chewing polysyllables.

Orwell was encouraging the left to get in tune with the working class, but MSNBC has gone in the opposite direction, shoving out hacks like Ed Schultz and Alec Baldwin, who for all their faults were somewhat more relatable than Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes and Ronan Farrow. Joe Scarborough is talking about running for office which will leave Chris Matthews and Al Sharpton as the only high profile MSNBC yappers who couldn’t be mistaken for Pajama Boy in a dark ObamaCare briefing.

MSNBC reinvented itself around Rachel Maddow. Its new talkers, Chris Hayes and Ronan Farrow, are cut from the same cloth, delivering nasal lectures with a tone somewhere between passive aggressive argument and ironic detachment. Imagine Air America crossbred with NPR and then mated with Pitchfork Magazine. Their horrible abortion would be MSNBC’s bland hipster ethos of earnest liberals earnestly talking down to their audience while Al Sharpton tries to figure out how a teleprompter works.

The Maddow MSNBC is a leftist student newspaper stridently denouncing racism, sexism, homophobia, claustrophobia, transphobia, pipelines, microaggressions, white privilege, cherry pies, political incorrectness, model trains and obesity.
Unlike the left’s highly successful mainstream media apparatus, it is overcrowded with professors of political correctness and Twitter activists who can’t talk to people, only at people, who assume that everyone who matters already agrees with them and that this self-important population is already watching MSNBC.

MSNBC has lost the ability to talk to ordinary people. Even other liberals are beginning to evince a distaste for it.

The hipster breakdown of MSNBC has bigger implications for the left. Behind the scenes, the Obama campaign looked a lot like MSNBC. The original Obama campaign was better known as the Howard Dean campaign, but even Democrats found Dean ridiculously irritating.

Obama was the perfect front man because he had the wiring of a Rachel Maddow or Chris Hayes, but when audiences showed up, they didn’t see a man in retro glasses sneering at them because they don’t understand what the asterisk in trans* stands for.

In his time as community organizer, Obama had learned to do what Orwell had advised the left to learn to do and what the average progressive has never learned to do, talk to ordinary people without making them react as if they were listening to a particularly annoying NPR broadcast. Obama Inc. may have been indistinguishable from the new MSNBC behind the scenes, but it had a human face on it.

Obama’s victories have given the left an unreasonable degree of confidence in their ideology, but it wasn’t their ideology that won two elections. Polls show that most Americans are not especially fond of what the left stands for, but they do vote for candidates who appear to care about them. The left didn’t win on the issues. It won because it found a good front man for its bad issues who would keep finding entertaining ways to distract the public from the complete implosion of his progressive policies.

The left confused political victories with ideological victories. It assumed that because Americans had been manipulated into temporarily liking Obama, that they also liked everything that the left stood for. MSNBC is what the left actually stands for and it’s a miserable catalogue of petty fascism by control freaks whose only knowledge of life comes through the lens of their favorite pseudo-Marxist theories.

The undisguised left cannot win an election outside of its safe territories where its politicians huddle in padded corners with bearded activists deciding whether they should ban donuts, plastic bags or politically incorrect pop songs next. In these territories where the Subaru station wagon is king, where everyone wears outdoor hiking gear everywhere they go and talk about mulching and recycling as if these were spiritual activities; MSNBC streams over every Roku box.

Occasionally a parka wearer driving a Subaru will find his facial muscles twitching and the words beginning to form in his mind, “Shut the f___ up”; but then he will be taken away for a three week course of wheatgrass juice colonic therapy that will leave him a proper Pajama Boy again.

Outside MSNBCland, the left remains unlikable; its army of activists infiltrates and takes over, but without a charming front man to juggle some torches and distract the crowds from the unemployment rate and their staggering health care premiums, the campaign folds like Howard Dean after a bottle of tequila.

MSNBC has decided that it’s safe to go Full Rachel Maddow. That is a mistake for which the left will pay the price where it always does, in the hearts of its countrymen who frown and change the channel.

Americans do not care for the ideology that consumes the professional leftist because they know that a man cannot serve two masters. Either he is an elected official who answers to the voters or he is an ideologue who answers to his professors of political correctness. That is why even career leftists like Obama attempt to pass themselves off as practical men. They understand that to identify as a rigid fanatic is political suicide.

Americans find that type of Socialist, whether he calls himself a progressive or a liberal, about as appealing as they do MSNBC.

At the debates, Obama had mocked Romney’s criticism of his drastic military cuts by accusing him of living in a 19th century “horses and bayonets” world and sneered at Romney’s statement that Russia was our leading geopolitical foe by asserting, “You don’t call Russia our No. 1 enemy… unless you’re still stuck in a Cold War mind warp.”

When Sarah Palin predicted back in 2008 that the invasion of Georgia would lead to the invasion of Ukraine, Saturday Night Live brought in Tina Fey to put on a little skit about seeing Russia from her house and everyone had a good laugh at the bumpkin who didn’t realize that the Cold War was over.

Last summer, Obama told Jay Leno, “There have been times where they slip back into Cold War thinking and a Cold War mentality. What I continually say to them and to President Putin, ‘That’s the past. We’ve got to think about the future.’”

Leno is gone and Putin is in the Ukraine and Obama is baffled to realize that when your enemies are stuck in the Cold War mentality, you either get your Cold War mind warp on or give up and go home.

Pattern: Obama warns of consequences; there are none

................................................................................................
Best Of Cain ^ | March 4, 2014 | Dan Calabrese

Feckless.

Please make a note the next time you think about voting for a presidential candidate because you like the way his speeches sound. Politicians who have a gift for saying things well don't necessarily have a gift for doing those same things well, or at all, and that becomes a pretty serious problem when the politician becomes president and his words put him in a box from which he is not prepared to extricate himself with action.

So when Barack Obama warns Vladimir Putin that there will be consequences for the invasion of Ukraine, why exactly should Putin believe that? Bret Stephens of the Wall Street Journal looks at some recent Obama statements about supposed consequences bad actors would face, and recalls that the action with which he followd up was . . . non-existent:

Is there any reason for Russia to think Mr. Obama means business? What were the costs to Russia for harboring Edward Snowden ? When the Kremlin was considering in June what to do with the fugitive NSA contractor living in a Moscow transit lounge, Mr. Kerry warned that there would be "consequences" for giving him asylum. He got asylum; there were no consequences.

Two months later, Mr. Obama was happy to accept Russian mediation for a face-saving deal on Syria's chemical weapons rather than impose the consequences he had promised if Bashar Assad used them. A few months after that, the administration quietly eased its enforcement of the Magnitsky Act sanctioning corrupt Russian officials.

You can take it way beyond that. What price has Iran paid for continuing to pursue its nuclear ambitions? None. How is North Korea being held accountable for its continued misbehavior? Not at all. What does the socialist regime in Venezuela fear from the United States - an important trading partner - for the oppression it is imposing on its people? Nothing whatsoever.

Obama will make serious-sounding statements about American resolve, but they mean nothing because everyone has figured out by now that if Obama thinks words sound good coming out of his mouth, Obama will speak those words. The notion that these words would necessarily be related to any sort of real action is pretty fanciful. That's the problem with a president who has that much confidence in his own oratorical prowess, even as its pretty well lost its luster for just about everyone else. He thinks that people still take things he says serious.

It's as if Obama's entire presidency is one big bluff. Just believe the words I say and act accordingly. Don't make me act! (Because I wont.) He doesn't have the slightest understanding that bad actors on the world stage will act in their own best interests - at least as they perceive them - and not according to the notions of the world embraced by Barack Obama.

The Washington Post, which endorsed Obama for president twice, unleashed a pretty brutal editorial about this the other day. Their own headline: "President Obama's foreign policy is based on fantasy"

A choice excerpt:

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in whichthe tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he said, of Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine, “ It’s a 19th century act in the 21st century.”

That’s a nice thought, and we all know what he means. A country’s standing is no longer measured in throw-weight or battalions. The world is too interconnected to break into blocs. A small country that plugs into cyberspace can deliver more prosperity to its people (think Singapore or Estonia) than a giant with natural resources and standing armies.

Unfortunately, Russian President Vladimir Putin has not received the memo on 21st-century behavior. Neither has China’s president, Xi Jinping, who is engaging in gunboat diplomacy against Japan and the weaker nations of Southeast Asia. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is waging a very 20th-century war against his own people, sending helicopters to drop exploding barrels full of screws, nails and other shrapnel onto apartment buildings where families cower in basements. These men will not be deterred by the disapproval of their peers, the weight of world opinion or even disinvestment by Silicon Valley companies. They are concerned primarily with maintaining their holds on power.

Obama simply makes declarations that would make a difference if the world operated as he imagines it should. When they don't, he figures it's not his fault because his vision is lovely and all these bad people who aren't doing things his way are the problem.

Actually imposing consequences is far too difficult and complicated, and Obama backs away every single time.

And yet, you can tell what's in a person's heart by what he does, and there are enemies Obama is willing to punish. Republicans. Businesses. Tea Party groups. He'll go after them with everything he's got, even if he has to abuse the powers of the IRS and the FEC to do it. So you might face consequences if you stand in the way of Obama's vision for a socialist United States. But you won't face consequences if you misbehave on the world stage, because Obama doesn't really have the stomach for dealing with you there. And he doesn't really want to.

Besides, shouldn't his speeches and declarations be enough? He sure hopes so, because that's all he's got.

Obama's perfumed prince General Martin Dempsey, the US military's top-ranking officer, said he had spoken to his Russian counterpart, General Valery Gerasimov earlier Wednesday, urging "restraint."

"I conveyed to him the degree to which Russia’s territorial aggression has been repudiated globally. I urged continued restraint in the days ahead, in order to preserve room for a diplomatic solution," the general said.

Carney: Of course Obama doesn’t regret insulting Romney about Russia

By Robert Laurie / Friday, March 7, 2014

Yesterday afternoon, Jay Carney was asked a simple question: Given recent events, does the administration have any regrets about being so dismissive of Mitt Romney when he said that Russia was our number one geo-political foe?

Even without the headline, we’re pretty sure you can guess the answer to that one. Obama won, so why would he regret being smarmy, self-righteous, and patronizing on the campaign trail? He got a second term. That’s all he cared about. The ends justify the means, so whatever embarrassing and insulting comments he might have made did exactly what they were supposed to do.

While the lack of remorse may not be surprising, Carney’s answer is - if only because it makes no sense whatsoever.

“No, because you have a situation where Russia is violating international law because a country that Moscow ...a government that Moscow supported was rejected by the vast majority of the Ukrainian people. And because they wanted to determine their own future, because they wanted to be able to make the decision as to their integration with Europe. They didn’t want to be dictated to by an outside state or an outside authority. I think it’s hardly a demonstration of…. It’s not a positive thing for Russia that Ukraine has been moving in this direction. Our whole point is it doesn’t have to be a negative thing. It is a mistake, certainly, in the long-run for Russia not to accept the fact that Ukraine can, the Ukrainian people should be able to decide for themselves in a democratic manner how they will integrate with Europe, and that doing so doesn’t mean they can not maintain their long, historical and cultural ties to Russia.”

a whole list of failures that made Putin believe that the Democrats are weak on foreign policy.

Look:

Let me be clear. When Obama halted the scheduled missile defense shield in Europe, that was the end of Ukrainian sovereignty. We have to understand that Democrats are not just totally inept at fiscal policy and on social issues. They are also horrible at foreign policy. How many screw-ups must we witness before we understand that these people are not serious, and we shouldn’t be electing them?

Governor Quinn Was Unaware of Pol's Husband's Windfall
............................................................................................
The Chicago Sun Times ^ | March10, 2014 | Dave McKinney

Governor Pat Quinn’s administration Monday said he was unaware that Cook County Circuit Clerk Dorothy Brown’s husband made a six-figure windfall from the governor’s now-disbanded, $54.5 million anti-violence program. A top Quinn aide also hit the top Senate Republican for her searing criticism that the husband’s payday amounted to “pure cronyism.”

Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno, R-Lemont, who has pushed for a federal criminal investigation into the program, shot back Monday, describing the governor’s office’s sensitivity to her statements as “an overreaction” and proof Quinn is “vulnerable” politically from the program.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday that Benton Cook, Brown’s husband, made $146,401 in salary and fringe benefits over two years from Quinn’s anti-violence program — once dubbed the Neighborhood Recovery Initiative — to help distribute $2.1 million in state funds in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Radogno called Cook’s involvement “outrageous.”

In the governor’s office’s first response to the disclosure, a key Quinn aide called Radogno’s remarks “malicious” and “irresponsible.” Cook has denied making that much, even though state records obtained by the Sun-Times show that he had in 2011 and 2012.

“I was shocked to read Leader Radogno’s comments in the paper [Monday], which are just plain false and malicious,” Quinn spokeswoman Brooke Anderson said in a prepared statement, referring to the Cook story.

Anderson went on to dispute GOP assertions that the program — launched by Quinn in the month prior to his 2010 election when he was predicted by some analysts to lose to Republican Bill Brady — was a lavish, taxpayer-funded, get-out-the-vote initiative.

“As has been previously reported and runs in stark contrast to Leader Radogno’s irresponsible comments, not one community organization received a single dollar until after the election,” Anderson said.

Radogno Monday rejected the criticism coming from Quinn’s office and said her views are “supported” by findings by Auditor General William Holland, whose audit this month outlined “pervasive deficiencies” in the Neighborhood Recovery Initiative. Holland turned over his audit Friday to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Springfield and to state Executive Inspector General Ricardo Meza.

“I think their overreaction to what is legitimate criticism demonstrates they know they’re very vulnerable on this issue,” Radogno said of Quinn’s office.

They need to change the name of that crap-hole county to CROOKED County.

Another game of “Guess the Party.”

Obama Refuses to Deport Fugitive Brothers Who Funneled $90,000 to His Campaign

................................................................................
Jammie Wearing Fools ^ | 03/12/2014

Maybe we should start talking about the Isaias brothers instead of the Kochs.

The donations kept pouring in: hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to President Obama and more than a dozen members of Congress, carefully routed through the families of two wealthy brothers in Florida.

They had good reason to be generous. The two men, Roberto and William Isaias, are fugitives from Ecuador, which has angrily pressed Washington to turn them over, to no avail. A year after their relatives gave $90,000 to help re-elect Mr. Obama, the administration rejected Ecuador’s extradition request for the men, fueling accusations that such donations were helping to keep the brothers and their families safely on American soil.

“The Isaias brothers fled to Miami not to live off their work, something just, but to buy themselves more mansions and Rolls-Royces and to finance American political campaigns,” President Rafael Correa of Ecuador told reporters last month. “That’s what has given them protection,” he added, an allegation the Obama administration and members of Congress reject.

So we have fugitives funneling money to Obama and nobody seems to care.

Donations from the relatives of criminal suspects have proved vexing before. In 2012, Mr. Obama’s re-election campaign said it would return more than $200,000 raised by relatives of a Mexican casino magnate who had fled charges in the United States and sought a pardon to return.

The White House says that the decisions in the Isaias case are not influenced by donations.

Of course not. Even the NY Times, which reports this, is instead obsessing over the Kochs, two men who are legal citizens who’ve broken no laws. Yet these fugitives give thousands to Obama and get protection. We’re officially living in a banana republic.

Un-American, Corrupt, and Compromised Politicians Running Rampant in Illinois

Shoebat ^ | 3/16/2014

There are plenty of un-American activities going on inside the state of Illinois, at the local, state, and federal levels. Those activities involve politically active Muslim Brotherhood front groups and compromised politicians. Unfortunately, though there is an answer for dealing with both, it’s nowhere in sight.

Less than one month before the Benghazi attacks, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn celebrated the end of Ramadan with 15,000 Muslims at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL. The imam who presided over the ceremony was none other than Jamal Said, Walid’s mentor and trainer, prior to Walid’s conversion to Christianity. Walid can provide a firsthand account as to Said’s support for terrorism. The Benghazi attackers and Said both support the Muslim Brotherhood agenda.

Gov. Pat Quinn (R) praying with Jamal Said (L) in black. At the ceremony, Quinn signed a religious tolerance bill.

On the last day of 2013, in line with the passage of that bill, Quinn’s office released the Muslim “Cultural Sensitivity Guide”, which is to be used by employers in Illinois.

Check out some of these guidelines such employers must follow (h/t BNI):

Dress Code

Islam requires women and men to behave and dress modestly. There are a number of ways in which Muslims express such teachings. Here is the most notable attire:

Muslim women often times wear a headscarf called a hijab. Muslim men sometimes wear a small head covering called a kufi. These articles of clothing should not be prohibited in any dress code policies.

Dietary Restrictions

The Quran prohibits the consumption of alcohol, pork and pork byproducts. Many Muslims follow standards of slaughter and preparation of meat and poultry called halal. (Halal is to Muslims what kosher is to Jews.) [Tip: Choose a vegetarian or fish option when catering to Muslims.]

That one is particularly interesting because there is an old American saying that goes something like this: “If you don’t like it, don’t eat it.”

The guidelines also go into significant detail about how Muslim prayer requirements must be adhered to by employers. Have a look at the daily prayer requirements:

Muslims are required to pray five times a day
– before sunrise, around noon, mid-afternoon, at sunset and at night. Before prayer, Muslims are required to wash their faces, hands and feet with clean water. Each prayer takes about 5-10 minutes to perform. Prayer may be performed in any quiet and clean place. During prayer, Muslims stand, bow and prostrate to God, facing Mecca (generally, in the northeast direction). During prayer, Muslims are fully engaged and cannot respond to telephone rings or conversations (with the exception of emergencies). Others should not walk in front of or interrupt Muslims during prayer. Muslim employees may pray during lunch and/or other breaks.

Gov. Quinn praying directly behind Said. Gov.

Said has an intimate history with Hamas and was named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the Holy Land Foundation trial.
Both he and Osama bin Laden had a shared mentor in Abdullah Azzam.

Feel free to speculate about why Quinn – and many other politicians – cater to Islamic extremists but two of the top reasons are intimidation and money. Intimidation is where the term “dhimmi” comes from and the more money accepted by said politicians from such groups, the more “dhimmi” those politicians become.

Jamal Said (far left) and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (far right). In Illinois, political dhimmis exist at the city, state, and federal levels. As Governor, Quinn is sandwiched between the compromised U.S. Senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin, who has shown coziness with Said in the past, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who appointed CAIR Executive Director for Chicago Ahmed Rehab to one of his advisory committees.

Jamal Said (Far left) and Ahmed Rehab (Far right). Jamal Said (Far left) and Ahmed Rehab (Far right). In this one example – and there are plenty of others – local, state, and federal government representatives have been compromised by the Muslim Brotherhood. These problems are not isolated solely in the state of Illinois. That state is merely a microcosm of a much larger problem.

The Muslim Students Association (MSA) began grooming and teaching Muslim college students how to wield influence at all levels of government in the U.S., the military, and countless institution
s.

When elected officials have been compromised to the extent that Emanuel, Quinn, and Durbin have, a primary way to deal with it involves the resurrection of the House Un-American Affairs Committee, which was abolished in the 1970's and its remnants were absorbed by the House Judiciary Committee.

The number 2 man on the Judiciary Committee is none other than Rep. John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), who has a some Muslim Brotherhood front group problems of his own.

The Un-American Affairs Committee is long gone and a long way off if it’s ever going to come back. One such reason has to do with how many U.S. politicians would be caught in its dragnet.
