I think there is something to be said for homes being well enough armed that intruders see it as a kind of "Robinson Roulette". I believe those incidents would be dramatically reduced.

OTOH, the firefights between young black teens in the inner cities seem unfazed by the fact that the person being attacked may be carrying a weapon. It is just gunslinging at its worst. Mostly over bags of weed or crack rocks.
