Agreed.. I am happy to see them pay down debt but no doubt we need a combo of revenue growth and debt reduction to move forward.. If some one steps up now to pay $4 - 5 in share exchange, I would be happy to move on..

Merge Healthcare to Launch New Retinal Screening Solution for Advanced Interoperability, Enhanced Patient Care and Reduced Costs

First End-to-End Solution Will Enable Automated, Early Screening Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy

CHICAGO, April 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Merge Healthcare Incorporated ( MRGE), a leading provider of clinical systems and innovations that seek to transform healthcare, today announced that it will be releasing iConnect(R) Retinal Screening, an, end-to-end retinal screening solution, allowing providers to quickly identify and diagnose patients with diabetic retinal disease. Leveraging Merge's cloud infrastructure, iConnect(R) Cloud Archive, and Merge Eye Care PACS(TM), the interoperable, subscription-based service streamlines operational workflow, reduces financial costs and enables of the improvement of clinical care quality.

"Diabetes affects more than 347 million people globally, and it's estimated that one out of every five U.S. healthcare dollars is spent on this disease," said Steven Tolle, Chief Strategy Officer at Merge Healthcare. "By creating a solution that addresses both patient and provider knowledge gaps, we're helping providers more easily diagnose and treat not only diabetes, but retinal disease as a whole. Patients, in turn, are empowered with faster treatment plans which can reduce the risk of negative side effects."

The newest offering to be added to the Merge Interoperability Solution suite, iConnect Retinal Screening enables providers to efficiently capture retinal images through an automated camera, reducing the need for staff to receive specialty training. Images are transferred via the cloud to a reading center where trained technicians and pathologists bear the responsibility of identifying, diagnosing and delivering results. The results are then transmitted electronically, via Merge's iConnect Network, to the provider's electronic health record (EHR) system to allow for timely, customized care plans. The first phase of the solution will offer Diabetic Retinopathy Screening to address the increasingly common complication of diabetes and one of the leading causes of visual impairment and blindness among working-aged adults in the U.S, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"We saw a clear need in the industry for a solution that solves a large population health problem especially within accountable care organizations. By leveraging our existing cloud technology, Merge customers will be able to enhance care for the large number of diabetic patients in our nation," added Justin Dearborn, CEO of Merge Healthcare. "Our deep expertise with other specialty screenings, such as mammography, cervical and cardiology, positions us well to help in the eye care market. This new, end-to-end solution will be a win-win for patients and providers, enabling a detrimental disease to be diagnosed and treated earlier having the additional benefit of reducing short- and long-term healthcare costs."

iConnect Retinal Screening is currently undergoing a pilot program launch and is scheduled for availability by the end of Q2. Future stages of the solution will include screenings for glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and other serious neurological disease.

iConnect(R) Network Gains Momentum With 19 Contracts in First Quarter

Merge Further Expands Advanced Interoperability Network to Reduce Costs, Increase Referrals and Meet Meaningful Use 2 Requirements

CHICAGO, April 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Merge Healthcare Incorporated ( MRGE), a leading provider of clinical systems and innovations that seek to transform healthcare, today announced first quarter momentum for iConnect(R) Network with 19 new contract wins. iConnect Network, Merge's advanced interoperability network for the exchange of clinical data, enables healthcare organizations to reduce costs, increase referrals and meet Meaningful Use 2 (MU2) requirements.

"We've worked with Merge for several years, leveraging their PACS and cardiology solutions, so it was an easy choice to implement Merge's vendor-neutral archive and iConnect Network for a comprehensive, enterprise-wide imaging strategy," said Dave Holland, CIO at Southern Illinois Healthcare, Merge's first hospital customer to sign up for iConnect Network. "Despite having a health information exchange in place, we needed a single solution that handles imaging as it becomes more important to healthcare as a whole. With iConnect Network, we'll meet MU2 requirements for the exchange of images and, most importantly, enable better access to imaging for physicians in order to provide the best care for our patients."

In addition to Southern Illinois' adoption of iConnect Network, the following organizations are among the new contracts, including MBB Radiology in Jacksonville, FL, Radiology Imaging Associates PC in Denver, CO, Southwest Diagnostic Imaging Center in Dallas, TX, St. Paul Radiology in St. Paul, MN and Washington Radiology Associates PC in Fairfax, VA.

iConnect Network v2.0, the latest release of Merge's advanced interoperability solution, expands the offering with several advancements for customers enabling them to:

Deliver radiology reports natively into referring physician electronic health records, without the cost of building custom interfaces through the use of partner networks; Meet MU attestation by quickly indicating when an imaging report was delivered, to whom and when the images were accessed; Simplify system workflows and identify physicians in the network with directory search capabilities; and Access more in depth reporting with links to diagnostic quality images uploaded directly into the provider's electronic health record. "The momentum Merge has gained with iConnect Network so far this year reinforces our view that our customers need true interoperable environments to communicate with community physicians outside of their four walls," said Justin Dearborn, CEO of Merge. "Collaboration and innovation between health systems, providers and radiologists are keys for achieving such an environment. Merge's ongoing success in creating and launching our advanced imaging and interoperability network is a tribute to our customers diligence as they push ahead to meet new value-based care models and regulatory mandates to enhance the overall patient care experience within their organizations."
