It seems like this this a perfect time to buy ORCL. There is blood on the streets. All their bad news is out. They have had their hit. Is there any basis for the rumors of a buyback?

Are they actually selling any NC products? Are they using Citrix pICAsso to connect to servers?

eugene,

Does it matter? Expensing/Capitalization are book keeping jive that don't have ANY impact on a wonderfully volitile stock like ORCL. I get on this ORCL thread about once every 3 months to attempt to explain that the NC is NOT going to make Oracle a penny. There are many other players already selling NC's, they are more stable and better marketed...A few places to look for NC's: Go to your travel agent, are the using PC's? Probably not, they are probably using AT&T NC's. Go to your bank, are they using PC's, hell no they are running Windows on machines that look like external hard drives...these ARE commerically viable NC's. Oracle is trying to push an expensive product with limited stability (they crash constantly) and archaic technology to some unknown users. Forget the NC. Focus on the brilliantly stupid manuevers like the Asian currency crisis. The company leaving itself unhedged was brilliant: Did you ORCL investors not read the 10-Q 10/15/1997. It states that foreign investments are up (Lane ha talked all yr about Asia)...and the 10Q quotes:"other than the U.S. dollar. Changes in the value of major foreign currencies
relative to the value of the U.S. dollar therefore could adversely affect future revenues and operating results. Foreign currency transaction gains and..." This means that They are unhedged. this means that when you have a currency crisis in Asia-BUY PUTS. Last week was the best week of the year for me. I hope you all had such insight.
