Well said Matthew. The surest way to prevent oneself from becoming a millionaire is by selling out your winners and "locking in" profits. Trying to time the market.
To others...
Stay the course. Networking is the future of the new economy and Cisco is the premier player.
If one is a true investor, one should be praying for all the weak hands to sell their Cisco shares now so they can be picked up at bargin prices...not panic at the slightest price drop.
Yes Cisco has had quite a run over the past few years, but we haven't seen anything yet. Cisco is where Intel and MSFT were 3 years ago.
You get what you pay for, so don't expect this stock to even come close the the cheap valuations of companies like 3Com, etc.

Mattew, You are right. I like CSCO's relative strength. If not for this Asian Flu, CSCO should be close to 100 now. However, I believe we are headed back to 200 day EMA at $76.

Matthew

Thanks for the reply. I agree with most of your post. My dad and brother sold most of their holding in Cisco in the last few days. They have held it almost as long as I have.

We (my dad, brother and I) are worried that margins are going down and that worldwide networking sales appears to be slowing also. This will slow down the growth rate of these stocks. If that is true then these stocks will fall to PE's resembling their growth rates or below.

Cisco can still maintain its premium to some degree but we are now undergoing a correction. I expect Cisco to remain the leader of the group in the long run but short term at least we are going lower. RS is breaking down across the board with the tech stocks and we will go down to bargin levels. IMHO we have not reached those levels yet.

Asia is creating the bargin but we do not know where the bottom is yet.

It's not time yet to buy. These things always swing to excess!

regards

Eric
