Oh, I agree about psychologists. In fact research has shown people do as well with no help as with help from a psychologist.

I shouldn't even have mentioned I had a degree I psychology, as the main thing I learned that really helped me was my understanding of statistics and probability.

Virtually every psychologist I have ever known has only been as good as they are smart and sane. And most are full of shit.

Still, I do understand some things. I am pretty good at reading people. I am very good at poker. Made a living at it.

You should not be fighting mar and solon. You should be learning from them.

I spoke with a very religious older lady today. I have seldom seen such a closed mind. I spoke gently with her for quite a while as I was interested in her.

She approved of science but not the facts. Kindness and education only had relevance in relation to Jesus.

Her ignorance and closed mindedness was breath taking. She was spectacularly out of touch with reality (but very lucid and sane) in a 16th century fundamentalist witch burning state of mind.

It actually shocked me. She said she would pray for me. I parted with a smile.

Not that this is a reflection on you personally but some of the most disturbingly evil and despicable people I have ever encountered have been Psychologists. The field seems to be a magnet for screwballs and predators.
Tell us about some of your encounters and what was it like to be institutionalized?

Was this before or after your ten year hiatus on drugs?

Here is your fellow Canadian Lefty Nelson describing his addiction.
