Poker is as you say a combination of probabilities (easy part) and seeing the game. I have been playing for 60 years. I think I just see the game better than the rest of them.

Sort of the "expert mind" trip. I have also read a lot of books on poker by the best players in the world and studied it.

I am just a normal guy who made a point of learning the game. Most don't do that.

One difference might be my background in statistics.

I have read we are hard wired for pattern recognition, but interestingly not for probability? I am pretty good with probability and it comes easy for me, but I will take the researchers word for it.

And one can see the problem people have with probability with all the people who buy lottery tickets for those big super lotteries :).
