Spinning it? What are you talking about?

What did I spin?

What is wrong with you?

We divide history into mega trends as you know:

The Dark ages 400 to 900 AD. This period is not known for anything in particular as much as a terrible time of little central government protection (Rome had fallen , massive tribal waring, Black Plague , illiteracy, and misery.

The Age of Enlightenment was not known for any one or few things, but a general awaking intellectually as a result of increased reasoning and science. "The age of reason".

The Industrial Revolution was not known for any one thing, like invention of the steam engine, but the growing industrialization.

So, IMO, the 60's will be seen as an equally important time as the decade when we freed ourselves from having to live according to the wishes of our family or culture, but had an inherent right to manifest our own destiny and a new perception of ethics. The 60's was the existential decade.

That was a huge deal and set loose all sorts of new ideas like not indulging racism or sexism or gay bashing, or stupid wars. Acid rock-lol. And the idea everyone had a right to do their own thing.

But those were all the "result" of the new type of thinking, they did not in themselves define the new age. The new existential thinking defined the age.

That was my point, and I don't feel it was stupid at all.
