2/28/14 Contest update Biotech Bears finally managed to regain some courage this week and Contest portfolios floundered in a river of red on February’s final trading day. The Bears may have gotten a little gumption from this Barron’s blog entry: blogs.barrons.com Despite Friday’s Bear raid, the Contest median was up a bit for the week, closing with a 28.01% YTD gain (vs. up 26.11% YTD a week ago). However, the Nasdaq Biotech Index sustained a small weekly loss and is now up 16.68% YTD (vs. up 18.54% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 3.15% YTD (vs. up 2.08% YTD a week ago). GUERL’s portfolio, up 71.71% YTD, took back the Contest lead, with JB118’s portfolio, up 69.71% YTD, dropping to second place. GENE’s portfolio, up 59.87% YTD, returned to third place. At Friday's close, all 46 Contest portfolios were still in the black and a remarkable 39 of the 46 were beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
