I think you have this ass backwards.

As computers got cheaper people are MORE willing to pay a premium for a good computer.

Hence Apples slowly rising but steady improvement in share despite their lack of low end models.

Either you are purposeful in unskilled fud, you are joking, or you are unaware.

a shocking new use that brings the watch outside the realm of being merely a display extension with additional sensors, then I could see it taking off. Monitoring vital stats, showing running pace, etc., don't meet that criteria, but I certainly can't rule out that something new and big will come along.
shocking? What shocks you and what compels the public with functionality likely are very different things.

Delivering a device that is more than a display extension is a given, unless you are speaking of Samsung. There is enough information out there to suggest Apple has much more in mind, if you have been paying attention. There isn't much information on Google's potential device.
