If we were in charge we would raise taxes on the rich, and corporations big time, cut defense in half and throw trillions into pre school, community colleges, green modern infrastructure, set up single payer health care, raise minimum wages way up and help unionize the country.

And we would castrate big business and the plutocrats and make democracy the big dog going forward.

We liberals know exactly how to do it. FDR showed us the path. It is clear as a bell to me and most liberals on SI.

I agree with you unfortunately this isn't 1934 anymore. I believe my friend MM is right on QE. Looking back not enough was cleansed out of the system. Still too much bad behavior, too many feel entitled to a certain lifestyle plus cost of living for J6P vs income is too far out of whack, always another bubble that in the end makes life tougher for most Americans. I listened to the new mayor of NYC during his acceptance speech seven weeks ago. Yes is great he will raise taxes on the wealthy and bring in an extra $1k per family but the bigger problem is the very high cost of living in the city. You need near $150k a year for a family of four with one car renting a modest 2 bedroom flat in an attached three story row house in an average hood these days. The American dream is no more there Koan nor is it anywhere cost of living far exceed incomes for average Americans..
