Paul, absolutely not. I think that it's a great idea and I encourage homeopathic treatment modalities except acupuncture (because of its inherent risk of transmission and/or infection). Dr. Oliver can give his perspective.

In fact I use some forms of alternative medicine. When patients ask me about supplements I keep an open mind. I believe that the most important treatment is the one that you believe in (MIND POWER).

I have been using high dose IVIG, toguether with high dose Vit C, Leukovorin, and MVI-12, from before the age of PI's and my results were incredible. Not until recently did I find the answers to why and how did IVIG worked. All the studies into the mechanisms of action have (that I have found in the literature) come from Europe.
IVIG is a very potent immune modulator, with actions in everything from interferons, and TNF to CD8 modulation. And even more interesting, Immune-globulin binds to the CD4 molecule and prevents the entrance of HIV into the cells.

So you see, we do not have all the answers and each patientis different. Mental attitude is very important. So who is to say that a natural supplement does not work. BTW I can tell you that Cats Claw DOES NOT WORK. And what is more important, natural supplement may be an adjunct to therapy but not a substitute.
