company. It has some of the best chip designers in the
business, so there is no way on earth that LSI is designing
the chips for them.


Bernard you might want to reread my post. I never claimed any of this.

I agree with you on ADI - analog is good.

And I agree with you long term on LSI but not for the reason you stated. Being a big company LSI is subject to the way the semiconductor market wind blows. Which means up and down. Their proprietary stuff is not insulating them from the downturns. Far from it.

That's why I like the smaller companies which I have mentioned here before. They have niche protection. And are not in the sights of the rifles of the big companies.

(What I did do was initially write LSI produces chips for Broadcom. And then said to myself - Wait a minute. I then double checked. I had seen them in the same article sometime ago in some connection. Presumed this was the connection. But checked and recanted.)
