and there you have it... the old republicon social conservative mantra... "all of America's problems are because of poor folks"... and at the same time the disparity of wealth is at historic proportions

another sick joke

Do you actually KNOW anyone on any sort of welfare? I don't. Occasionally, I get behind someone getting AFDC at the supermarket, which I know only because they have to sign a seemingly endless bunch of coupons for huge numbers of baby food jars.

So, you could say that welfare occasionally annoys me, but as a principle I'd much rather my tax dollars go for that than for ridiculously expensive military hardware we'll never use. I'm glad that woman at the supermarket is able to feed her babies, and glad my tax dollars do that.

Perhaps one day one of those babies will be president, and I hope their mom reminds them then that government assistance fed them as an infant.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all. Third world countries do that- and have the beggars to prove it. I'm not interested in seeing America go the third world route. Our taxes are lower than they've been in decades past- decades when the American middle class was stronger. Attacking the poor and the weak isn't the route to a better stronger America.
