That's a disaster Independent practice is over. Either go to work for a Hospital or clinic, or go concierge, cash only. For me personally it makes no difference. My independent practice has been over since 2006. Since then, it was - yes - hospital work, and more recently - semiretirement, with part time independent contractor work. I'm very grateful for being able to do this - many older guys retire and then volunteer to do different things, while I do work that i like, and get paid nicely for doing it. But, that said, seeing US healthcare become fantastically expensive - and demoralized - over the last several decades hasn't enamored me with excessive regulation and socialism. It's a darn shame.
