Bread, I really don't have time these days to argue this with you--other pressures in my life. But, quickly, on this score, the best way to break this cycle is to put a great deal more money into public urban and rural education, particularly, into pre-k. As I recall, you were more than skeptical that would work.


Well, the only way that is going to happen,increased eduction for poorer kids, is if we can have some kind of political debate about it among the parties. I think we can agree at least on that. And welfare supporters would have to agree to abide by some standard measurements of success as to the effectiveness of these programs. HS Graduation rates, College acceptance, Armed Forces Acceptance, Job placement, etc. for examples.
