I read an article a while back describing their product development teams and it was nuts. Multiple teams working on different versions of a new Galaxy handset at the same time with little idea which would ship. The teams would move into dorms for the duration and basically work 7 days a week until the project was done.

Of course, this has worked best with hardware. Their TouchWiz software is not generally well regarded though the initial reviews of the S5 indicate that this version is better.

I think you are right. Its basically a stalemate right now, mostly Samsung vs Apple. For Apple to win it has to produce something Samsung cannot duplicate. Samsung does well even if its imitations are slightly second rate.

That's what so interesting about sapphire and LM. If Apple can pull that off they will have a proprietary advantage. Milled aluminum gave them the edge for some time but not enough.
