I don't think their stats are supposed to be factual-- i always thought macalope was intended as hyberbole?

But yes, it's more than the Korean Samsung fanboys that are buying large screen phones. Many Apple fanboys are too. Which is why the large screen iPhone can't come soon enough.

It's satire. He makes fun of all the hyperbole and hysteria critical of Apple and points out the flaws. His point is that phablets aren't nearly popular as some would have you believe.
