devices that do a lot of what the iWatch is rumored to be able to do.

I don't invest on the quality of rumor I see surrounding imagined Apple products. You shouldn't either but, then again, you should know that.

"Check Gazelle and eBay resale values over time. That's just data. The waterproof feature might escalate that trend. That's just an opinion."

Was it your contention that Samsung had caught up to Apple in terms of resale value? Unlocked S3 and S4's on Gazelle are now worth $137 and $209, respectively (pristine condition). You can pick your comparator, but unlocked iPhone 5 and 5S are $250 and $350, respectively. The Samsung values might have dropped precipitously following the S5 announcement, but at the time you made the statement, it seems that Aplle holds their premium pricing better.

Waterproofing would have no effect on these valuations, although it might affect the recent age of phones that qualify as "flawless."

...the videos I've received and seen online from the show display ti working as intended

The thing about videos is that you never really know who paid for the production ;-) SS has been known to fudge benchmark tests now and then and also pay off bloggers, so I wouldn't set too much store by any videos released into the wild. Reports after several months of real world use would be the best gauge, IMHO.
