Those were Einstein's words. Intelligent people agree with him on that. Quite clearly, in a single sentence he has identified the fundamental essence and causes of civilized human interaction. It is usually fairly easy to separate hurtful behaviours from helpful acts. And this is what families, tribes, and communities of people have done since time immemorial. Often they have added a stupid component to it by positing some supernatural friend who requires certain silly rituals for his pleasure (he is usually a big mean man, of course!). This allows certain conniving people to justify special privileges in the community.

One of the funniest books of the bible is Leviticus where Aaron and his family are given special privilege and special rituals to follow.

Surprise! Atheism can't provide a basis for morality beyond personal preference.

"A man's ethical behaviour should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs"

Longnshort doesn't like you calling Albert an atheist! And of course atheism is not a basis for morality. What page are you on? DUH!

The human condition and the needs of humans and the realities of the world ARE the basis for all rules of conduct--written and unwritten. You didn't know this?? SHEESH!
