Bloggers & Personal ^ \| 26 Feb 14 \| Xzins Dear Congressman ________, The proposed cuts in national defense will injure the security of the United States of America. 1. The most common enemy the USA is now fighting consists of insurgents. The only remedy for insurgency that has worked is General Petraeus' surge strategy of ground troops. It worked in Iraq and Afghanistan when consistently applied, and it's the only thing that has worked. The only way to "air power" insurgents is to bomb villages, and that will never happen. That leaves ground troops being the only answer. Cutting the Army at this time is completely irrational. 2. The national strategy of being able to fight 2 simultaneous wars is still the right strategy. There is no time in American history when engagement in one war hasn't caused another enemy to at least think of attacking because America was occupied elsewhere. History aside, it is logical for one enemy to take advantage of an opponent's distraction by another enemy. We are now of a strength to fight only one ground war at a time. The optempo of the Iraq/Afghanistan campaigns has proved that. Our troops, both active and reserve, have been "rode hard and put away wet." An army of 450,000 or less is simply not able to put the shooters on the ground that makes effective prosecution of one war a certainty. 3. The only thing that has made the Iraq/Afghanistan campaigns possible has been our National Guard and Reserve. They need an increase -- certainly not a cut...as proposed by this administration. It is utter insanity to contemplate gutting the National Guard and Reserve. 4. Once that defense money is channeled into entitlements -- and it will be -- it will never be recoverable in the US budget. That will mean that any threat at all will further balloon America's debt. I believe experience with the military will support the 4 points above. Please reject these thoughtless cuts the way they are proposed. Work to ensure America is able to keep its enemies away from our shores and continually worried about our abilities.

The conservative watchdog group obtained travel records from the U.S. Department of the Air Force that show the Obamas racked up $7.4 million during just three trips in 2013 – in flight expenses only. The records, revealed Friday, include the Obama family’s Christmas vacation in Hawaii from Dec. 21, 2012, to Jan. 5, 2013. During that stay, the president took a short break and flew back to Washington to work on a budget deal, then returned for the rest of his vacation. The second trip was in early August, 2013, when Obama flew to California for a private fundraiser with DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, then appeared with Jay Leno on the “Tonight Show.” Later that month, the Obama family vacationed in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. Judicial Watch filed the lawsuit in August 2013, after repeated stonewalling by the White House. The group reported: * The outbound flight to Honolulu for the Obamas’ 2012-13 Christmas vacation cost taxpayers $2, 214, 393.60. The return flight to Washington cost $1,871,961.60. Flight expenditures alone came to $4,086,355.20. * The outbound flight to California in August, 2013 for Obama to dine with Katzenberg and appear on the “The Tonight Show” cost taxpayers $1,209,926.40. The return flight to Washington cost $935,980.80. Flight expenditures alone came to $2,145,907.20. * The outbound flight to Martha’s Vineyard for the Obama family’s August vacation cost taxpayers $890,323.20. The return flight to Washington cost $273,945.60. Flight expenditures alone came to $1,164,268.80. * The grand total of $7,396,531.20, Judicial Watch pointed out, only accounted for flight expenses for the three trips. “The fact is, the Obamas are abusing the public trust and the taxpayers with unnecessary luxurious vacations and travel,” Judicial Watch said in its report. “These staggering costs show why these documents were covered-up and we had to sue in federal court to get them. Another transparency fail for the Obama gang, but thanks to our federal lawsuit it is another accountability win for the American taxpayer.”

"A heavily redacted Sheriff's Office document released Tuesday identified Lolita Grayson as the victim in the incident and listed the offense under investigation as domestic-violence battery." Grayson has denied the charges through a spokesperson. According to the petition, Lolita Grayson was preparing to take the couple's two youngest children to a play date when Alan Grayson "showed up, unannounced" and asked to speak with her inside. After she refused, retrieved his mail and asked him to leave, Alan Grayson "then deliberately and with force pushed [Lolita Grayson] very hard against the front door, causing [her] to fall to the ground as a result," the petition states. She told her husband not to touch her, then pushed him in the face and kneed him in the stomach "in order to protect and defend herself" before calling 911, her petition says. As she was talking to the operator, Alan Grayson told his wife, in the presence of their children, that she "would receive nothing" in their divorce and would be left "in the gutter," the petition states. Photos filed by Lolita Grayson's attorneys with the petition show large bruises to her left leg and left shoulder.
