I'm not a big fan of schrooms. I don't know if deer are, either.

October rains coax more than 500 types of edible mushrooms out of hiding in Mendocino County, including the coveted chanterelles, porcinis, morels and rare candy cap mushrooms. The Mushroom, Wine and Beer Festival takes advantage of nature's fleeting gift, staging mushroom dinners, wine- and beer-pairing demonstrations, mushroom exhibits, expert-guided foraging, art exhibits, kayak and horseback excursions, and other events throughout the county. The centerpiece is the Mushroom, Wine and Beer Train on Nov. 2, taking guests deep into the redwoods for wine tasting, gourmet bites, a mushroom cook-off and hikes with local mushroom expert Eric Schramm.
