That doesn't mean it will suddenly leak if pushed beyond those guideline limits, but to be "waterproof" it it would need to be able to withstand much more pressure. It's certainly not intended to be suitable for deep sea diving, but for a brief swim, accidental drops, or incidental water exposure during the course of normal use, it should be very safe. I'm pretty sure the iPhone 6 will follow suit, as will other phones, as it's a feature with no downside. I have been told more than once that lots and lots of individuals (I'm guessing probably in the millions) sell stuff online, using their FB page as their storefront. Furthermore, nearly every organization I've come across also has a FB page for marketing. So, I'd say quite a lot of shopping takes place on FB, directly or otherwise. There's no shopping cart to purchase directly, but many businesses promote their wares versus Facebook. The extra step needed to leap from ads to purchasing decreases conversions, but certainly doesn't eliminate the value. Facebook is a very good platform on which to market your wares. The issue is that most Facebook users aren't using Facebook because they are seeking to research products or services to buy. They are typically there to socialize, and marketing efforts are largely viewed as distractions. They are tolerated, but only to a degree, so Facebook has to be careful not to saturate too much. In contrast, iPhone and Android phone users, when they search, are often looking to find a business or otherwise research or purchase a good or service. Those searches can be monetized much more efficiently.
