In the end, it all comes down, once again to education. Repubs want to cut education whenever they can. Serves their purposes, and provides cheap, desperate labor. You earlier observed that religious schools provide a horrible education. I suspect those who attended such institutions as Marquette, Notre Dame and St Louis University would tend to disagree.. including my wife, who graduated with honors with an electrical engineering degree from Marquette. You wouldn't want to try to compete with her in the math and science department :)

An endless cycle of poverty hooked semi-permanently to government assistance only continues the cycle generation to generation. ...........If the poor goes to the store and buy whatever they want - there is little reason for them to change. Shouldn't our main goal be - besides providing healthy food be to move those who are constantly hungry - be to give them incentives to advance themselves?

A stunning new report indicates the U.S. Navy knew that sailors from the nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan took major radiation hits from the Fukushima atomic power plant after its meltdowns and explosions nearly three years ago. Many of the sailors are already suffering devastating health impacts, but are being stonewalled by Tepco and the Navy. The $4.3 billion carrier is now docked in San Diego. Critics question whether it belongs there at all. Attempts to decontaminate U.S. ships irradiated during the Pacific nuclear bombs tests from 1946-1963 proved fruitless.
