Samsung’s half-assed implementation is such crap that nobody will use it anyway.
There are some really cool uses for it, particularly stemming from the fact it's open to developers. I have some programmers working on an implementation related to video content rights (planning stages only, for now).

You asked earlier why Apple got a lot of heat for the fingerprint scanner and potential security issues, while Samsung hasn't. That's a good question. I think it's a function of people being weary of anything new. When Motorola put the first fingerprint scanner on a phone (the Atrix), it took a lot of heat for privacy/security issues as well. It didn't get covered much in the press because the Atrix isn't a wildly popular phone, while the iPhone is.

I think its a moot investment point which fingerprint scanner is better.

Apple's is obviously superior, Samsung's is "good enough"... because some... most people are imprudent. Prudent people value security more than imprudent people. Apple is better at security.

I think the fingerprint scanner difference is not going to change anyone's mind, but in general prudent people have more money to spend. Those who buy Android phones ignore the fact that they are less secure.

The sapphire scanner is not THAT much better... people are just not going to switch over it.

Its sort of like people who walk into traffic without looking when they are immersed in their phone. Just happened to a young gal here in SD, hit by a semi. Its a no brainer to me to look twice both ways and stay ON the sidewalk at intersections, but a lot of people don't. There are a lot of incompetents behind the wheel. Its obvious to me, but not to a lot of people.

Its sad but its the human condition.

So again Apple is stuck until something big happens. If its a market crash Apple will go with it. Nothing will take it up EXCEPT a new product, and maybe not just one. It might take two new hits to drive it up.
