P.S. My other-half has a very similar background to yours apparently, though Lviv was involved. One day I'll bring out ample vodka and get the real story; or maybe hide the vodka. I am not sure which is the better way sometimes with the male ancestral units. :)

The extreme example of this is Syria (also backed by Putin) with the additional ingredients of extreme fundamental Muslim fanaticism and terrorism.

What is happening there, and happened in Chechnia show how far Putin may be willing to go. I'm not sure the romanians have that kind of fight in them, or have sufficient supplies, men, arms to see it through. All part of Putins calculation as well as the likelihood of outside assistance or intervention.

Is this a replay of the events leading up to WW2?
