Me too!!! I always tell my students- even if you've blown off school, there's still hope! And I tell them I pretty much educated myself. I read constantly, and promiscuously, everything I could get my hands on. And I learned a lot more than I learned in school- mostly because I cut the first two years of high school...

I regret those lost years (and I tell my students that), but at least I was reading while I was in the academic wilderness. So that when it came time to take the SAT I ranked well and got in to college, despite my academic record. Never would have happened if I had not been a reader.

You will never be alone or bored if you are a reader, and you will meet kindred spirits across the globe and across time. Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Austen and Tolstoy are friends of mine :-)
