The Cold War was ended by 40 years of deliberate policy forged before Reagan was in politics by presidents of both parties and our international allies. Reagan just happened to be in office when it came to fruition.

"In February 1946, George F. Kennan's " Long Telegram" from Moscow helped to articulate the US government's increasingly hard line against the Soviets, and became the basis for US strategy toward the Soviet Union for the duration of the Cold War. [53]"

Learn something, you ignorant, patisan right-wingnut.

No. The Cold War didn't end because the Soviets couldn't continue in the face of his wrath. It ended because they found out that the toys they had accumulated over the previous decades were not up to snuff to take Europe and their economy was tapped dry.

We lost those Marines in Lebanon because we were putting on a show. They took up positions at the airport because it was high profile and would have been a feature for most of the video that would have been shot. It also was very difficult to defend. As we found out. We cut and ran because the administration didn't want to get involved in Lebanon, that would have been a multi-year commitment. We later invaded a tiny country for no real reason to wipe Lebanon off the front pages and give us an easy victory. Even so, it revealed serious problems in communications that would have hamstrung us in anything like a real conflict.
